A solution for "geting salt issue" and "CrabKing reward"

Recommended Posts

A saw a lot of people complaining about getting salt being a pain in the ass, I also saw a lot of people saying that CrabKing reward is not good enough. Now I have an idea that will fix that, when you defeat CrabKing and you get the broken pearl you normally give it back to Pearl with this you will unlock her final item in the "shop" that she has, the BETTER BOAT KIT a boat made of moon rock (maybe) the thing is that is has double health (400) and also slower because reasons, the shape is the same has the normal boat kit visually will be like a skin. How this will help me to get salt? Because it's harder, CookieCutters can't make any lick, they will hit the boat making some damage and get stunned, so you can kill them easier. With this, you have now a good reason to defeat CrabKing (a part of being part of the Celestial Champion quest),  a reason to give back the pearl to Pearl, an easiest way to get salt, even a reason to get the Malbatros Mast.

I really want to see what do you think about it, thanks in advance.

This.

They should make Salt Stacks disappear completely when fully mined and use some invisible spawner thing to repopulate the brine shoal in question afterwards.

It's not the most elegant solution but what I do is swap to Maxwell, hire shadow workers (2 is more than enough) and take lazy deserter (whichever the amulet is) and just row around the salt area fighting all the cookie cutters. Hands down most efficient way to get a bunch of salt.

I was looking for Lunar Island, unfortunately I had to sail all the way around the map because I guessed wrong the first time. Then I came across the Salt Formations which I remembered I could make a Salt Box with but I never got around to it. I didn't bring a weapon with me because I assumed nothing at sea could harm me. Then I got swarmed by 20+ Cookie Cutters and died.

I do think getting stuck on the Salt rocks is annoying. I was thinking about making a boat bridge, but I'm 99% sure that as soon as one of those critters gets in range of the outer boat they will literally munch down every single boat in the chain. So not only do the salt rocks really highlight the poor, sluggish boat controls, there's not even an expensive workaround because the cookie cutters eat everything that's wood.

I suppose if you brought like 10 boat kits with you you'd be able to row/sail over there, wipe out all the critters first, and then place the boats in between the salt rocks so you can just hop back and forth. That would cost 8 stacks of wood though, and as soon as the critters respawn they will all be gone.

My problem with getting salt weren't cookie cutters but how annoying and time consuming it is to manouver around formations to gather all the salt, boat is so big you often can't enter between formations so I suggested once to be able to grab stuff from water using fishing rods.

There's easy trick to deal with cutters even with no boat patcehs. If you can't kill them in time and your boat will sink you should've brought second boat. Deploy it when it gets hairy and just collect the 4 boards after destroyed boat and craft another so you can infinitely use the same 8 board for boats with no need to fix them.

I'm not fighting a fricking crab king before getting salt.

I might be wrong but recently boats don't drop 100% back all the boards when destroyed anymore.

and also slower because reasons

i feel like this would make the problem worse since it encourages players to do the usual freeze spam rather than rowing away from his attacks

a better way to improve crab king would probably be to change the fight itself. His healing mechanic forces any non wolf player to either spam weather pains, or sit still and tank his other attacks, so if this mechanic was either toned down or removed then you would be able to manoeuvre around his attacks without worrying about completely resetting the entire fight.
