Another banger. Being able to barely understand enhances the experience. This is probably the best things ever, I'm pretty sure we have peaked.

Oh and the new crafting ui is good too.

I hate this change. Many friends around me also hate this change. Why? For example, in the past, there were drawers on the Android mobile desktop. To open the software, you need to open the drawer. Now there are all apps on the Android mobile desktop. To open the software, you only need to open it directly. Why does this happen? Because it is convenient, people's operation habit is to see and click, and the operation steps should be as few as possible, so as to increase the positive feedback of users and increase the user experience, In the past, it was troublesome for players to find a production. In fact, Klei didn't do targeted optimization at all. For example, add the top button of each item, or add a column in the original manufacturing column to permanently display and collect. However, you didn't do it at all. You just wanted to make it more convenient for us in your eyes. But, do you really play games often? The game should pay attention to the user experience, not to say that the function realization is the purpose. Your purpose has always been one, so that players can have a good game experience

Everyone has their own experience and opinions. Invaliding others' experience by asserting your own opinion is kinda hostile.

I admit many players out there like the new UI and I understand why they do. But I'm not one of them. And I think I'm allowed to dislike.

To be perfectly honest with you, aside from a few controller input buttons that could be better optimized I think this new one can.. with enough work and updates done to it, be superior to the old one.

Pinned Recipes allows me to fill one column up with what I want to craft most, which is actually way better then scrolling through the entire crafting menu to find and craft something.

I like how you can pin & unpin recipes replacing them with different ones-

HOWEVER The Favorites Column does not do what I had HOPED that it would do.. and allow me fast and easy access to items I already have crafted, without needing to scroll through my entire backpack to get to those items.

Example being: I only pin 5 items, Axe, Pickaxe, Walking Cane, Spear & Torch/Lantern.

this “Fast Access” Menu would allow me to swap between those 5 already crafted items without also needing to arrange or scroll through my Backpack inventory to get to them.

That is what I was HOPING pinned favorites would do, but unfortunately: all it appears to do is pin them for Crafting.

When I what I wanted was something more Akin to Ark Survival Evolved or Conan Exiles where pinned items that Are not crafted will appear greyed out, and when selecting those.. provided you have the resources to craft them, you will craft that pinned item, However if you have an already crafted version of that item in the pinned slot: You will equip said item instead of crafting it.

The context here is the “banger” comment. And I’m being honest with you, I’ve learnt everything you said multiple times when I’m lurking in the forum. But I will never say that what you said is not true. I will just listen and take it in as a “popular opinion”. But I feel a little disrespected when someone told me the reason I dislike the new UI from my own experience is just some nonsense.

The consensus is determined by popular vote, not by silencing the opposing voice. I’m allowed to voice my minority opinion as much as other people’s freedom to voice their majority opinion.

I personally have accepted the reality that I’m gonna be living with what I think as less-than-ideal UI and I have no complaints. This is just how the system works. But I’ve come across multiple times when someone complains about the UI, someone else sometimes gives back a lengthy lecture to justify why the new UI is “objectively” better as if the original commenter didn’t know any of that and as if their reasoning is superior so much so it can invalidate the complained experience the other person had.

And I must remind that my language is neutral and not aggressive. What I said is really basic and nothing provocative. My defense is to support my fellow complainers to freely express their complaint about the new UI without being dismissively shot down or labeled until they feel they don’t need to any more.

People can still dismiss me, it’s your freedom, but know my defense exists, I stand firmly for both popular and unpopular opinions.

I think the new production column is okay...but there's big problem need to be solved, like everytime enter the game,my costum toolsbar will be replaced by the default one,so I have to costummize it again. That's really annoying.

That's going to be changed in a future update.

Y'know what's ironic about most of these "I hate the new changes, go back to the old ui" comments? The fact that they preferred the old ui for the sake of "convenience", even though the new ui was made to be more convenient going forward. Not only that, but I'm seeing a substantial amount of users saying this AFTER the fact, as in, they never partook in the beta to begin with.

Not trying to come off as rude, but Klei couldn't have been more transparent during the beta, it's not their fault if you chose not to say anything when you had the chance.

Is the new one really more convenient though? Especially seeing how the refining tab itself can’t be Pinned to favorites.. opening that large menu just to craft a few Boards or Cutstone sure as hell doesn’t feel more convenient to me over the old one.

If you don't participate in the test, you have no right to refute?what?

Why should we test them? The test clothes are particularly easy to collapse. We have to bear the vicious game experience caused by the collapse. No one will take the initiative to play the test clothes. We are consumers, players and the object they want to serve, not their employees. We have no obligation to go in the test clothes to help them test, but they have the obligation to maintain the player's game experience. As a designer, he should be more forward-looking and can make changes that disgust a large part, In fact, it has explained the problem. He doesn't play the game he changed

I don't want to say more. Your comfort is only based on the freshness of changes, and there is no basis in line with people's habits. Moreover, in this pleasant freshness, one third of people still hate the new manufacturing column, which has explained the problem. I hope that at least the old manufacturing column can be retained and maintained until the new manufacturing column is more mature

To be honest, I don't like the new bar, it is not very convenient, may be much better for new players, but for the vast majority of the old players is not very friendly, sometimes can't find what you want, sometimes also very troublesome, if you can, I hope I can make a official option, let players the freedom to choose to make use of the column, believe that would be much better, Everyone has his own hobby, hope the official can understand us to adapt to the old production column of old players

i suggest you to organize your inventory, is a mess in your "abi cant deal with hound waves" video and in other media you shared so i guess is always that messy

put hand items together, head slot items together and chest items together instead of weapon in backpack, axe in 3rd slot, pickaxe in 7th, etc

using controller will still being inconfortable but i guess will improve your experience

Or maybe the thing Klei needs to look at and think about is I’m a DS/DST veteran, been playing this game since it was available on Xbox- And lately they have been doing a lot of changes to make this game more welcoming to new players.

Things like loading screen tips, survival items, Changing the Crafting UI so they’ll learn things more easily.. Making characters have OP Abilities or reducing crafting costs of useful items to become more accessible.

I’m a VETERAN and inventory management as you said: is a mess for me.

So maybe it’s about time the inventory Auto Managed itself instead of players needing to have people tell them how or look on Wiki for proper inventory management?

My inventories get jumbled up the way they do because I’m often swapping between items, picking up items, dropping items to pick up items I may need more then the item I dropped.. It’s never neat and organized.

But since we’re making a good chunk of the game more accessible to new players- Perhaps it’s time they looked into improving this?

We have two other QoLs for 2022/2023.. so I may as well bring it up now.

I have had people yell at me in my streams about how my inventory is a mess lol.
but the thing is there is never really moments where you  need specific items in your inventory.
only maybe the panic armor for the chest slot or managing weapons.
having a beef means you don't have to deal with either.
it would be nice though if they could make it take from the lowest stack first  when crafting than instead taking items from left to right  in your inventory.

is never organized because you never organize it. If you put hand, body and head items together the only slots avaraible for materials are the empty ones so they dont get mix... idk how can you play with a controller when you need move your joystick throw all your inventory until reach the weapon in your backpack to later move it again in the opposite direction to get your cane/light source when it could be together so you just move 1 slot instead of 20... the inventory works very well when you understand how it works

im also a veteran and i dont have such problems, i put my equipable stuff in the 5 first slots and the rest is filled with materials. With a k&m would be annoying to have a messy inventory but with controller... just unplayable as you must notice when you needed like +2 seconds to equip your weapon to deal with a hound while abi was dying because you didnt assited her for being bussy looking for a weapon throw your entire inventory

is just a suggestion, do whatever you wish but asking for automatic inventory organization when is something you can do in the most confortable way for you...

is annoying and waste a lot of time to be, for example, chopping with an axe in inventory 6 then you change it to your cane in inventory 3 to reach the next tree faster, now you need to go throw inventory 6 again to equip it and now your cane is in that 6th slot but a spider comes and your weapon is on 10th slot but you want to kite and now you need to look where is your cane which was on 3rd slot but now is on the 6th, you kill the spider but now where is your axe? oh is on the 10th because there was your weapon...all this mess without taking incount empty slots messing the ""organization"", cant imagine cleaning the ruins in that way when you can put your your tools and weapons in the first 3-4 slots plus your armor and the head items in the 5th and following slots

for example i put my weapon in the 1st one, armor in 2nd and the rest of tools in the 3rd, 4th... and after them 5hr head items so that situation of chopping is as simple as you get close to a tree with your cane, change to axe in 3rd slot so the cane is there, equip again cane quickly because i know where is it, the spider comes and i equip my weapon in the 1st slot and i can equip my armor quickly if need, i finish the fight and equip again the cane in slot one, equip my backpack and the armor fills the 2nd slot that was empty because i was using armor, go to a tree and use again the 3rd slot to chop the tree. Meanwhile all the materials are filling the 6th to the right slots without being mixed with my equipable items

Whats funny is that I never really use the hotkeys. Everything is pretty visual for me and most play is done by my mouse.
plus wendy main so I don't have to worry about lots of the little things bothering me lol there is kind of some organization.
but yeah for me majority of the time everything is pretty color coded so it does't really matter to me what slot its in im just looking for a specific color.

Abby is Red so i can apply potions
Light is usually orange or purple
being the pumpkin torch or the tesla coil lantern
Most tools are white or gold
weapons for me is usually the hambat or the spear Those are pretty unique from others  I also play with the largest hud so i can see the icons.
