[Beta Suggestion] Quick-Access Crafting Menu with More Favorite Slots

Recommended Posts

Everyone who tested March's QoL Beta knows we have a limited number of slots - 9 - to the Quick-Access Favorite Crafts' menu. My proposal is simple: why not double them (18) or even triple(27)?! Perhaps a rounded number of 30 tops would be better? With a simple scroll - example below:

I believe this will also address the concerns expressed in numerous threads about old-vs-new menus, namely number of clicks used and crafting swiftness. Main/opened menu with filters remains the same in aspect & functionality, yet we can have a simple scroll with increased number of favorite recipes, enough to cover all one's wants and needs. "Best of both worlds" scenario? What do you think?

I think this is a very good idea. I also hope at least one preset should be allowed to be saved/loaded.

And i also hope they will implement repeated (batch) crafting on right click, including for quick menu items.

I think I'd personally go with a scroll that switches between entire pages/presets of recipies instead of this being a single big list of things, could help find stuff faster.

That and having some way to save a preset/page permanently to your client to use in any world.

Scott hearted a comment I made suggesting either a little arrow be added to let you swap between two sets or a row of buttons be added to the full craft menu letting you swap between something like 9 sets.

Not sure if that means it's coming but they're at least aware of it.

I'm also sad right click still does absolutely nothing inside the crafting menu at this point in the beta, I was hoping it could be used to favorite/pin items or craft them directly without having to click on them first

i dont get how its faster? you have to scroll/click numerous times instead of just opening your favorite menu.

i think the up/down button mean to switch between pages . not up/down one box of fav menu

hey dude, Scott just state that they will complete to add more pages for the pinned recipe bar in some next weeks.

Although the QoL update will be going live tomorrow, there are still a few things that will be added throughout the next week(s). These include: keyboard shortcuts to craft pinned recipes, adding pages for the pinned recipe bar and changing them to be stored on the profile instead of per world, a system to support crafting refined ingredients directly from the currently selected recipe, optimizations, and mod support for adding new filters.

It is not fully what you wanted, but it is what i posted. That meet all my requirement and i think it is wonderful, how do you think about it?:)

then maybe the arrows should go left<->right if its a 'page' thing...

The idea is not bad, but I think in the time I scroll or select pages I can also press "c" and have my favorite menu already there.

In my view it defeats the purpose of my proposal: less clicks, more scroll during real-time fights and swift-access instances. Is a lot easier to move mouse in general area of Quick-Access Favorite crafts and scroll to what one needs - again: more than 9 slots - than to pay close attention to a precise area and click on it. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, precise clicking is a luxury. Yes, of course you could say plan better, play more cautiously and-the-like but then new Craft UI just pushes me into a certain direction and not my preferred, regular play-style.

I guess is.. something. Yet am reserved in my expectations. If I remember correctly there's around 1 month-to-date since KLei mentioned having people investigating the CURL Error... but it continued happening; meaning nothing was concretely done about said problem. More-so: the new 12-slots KLei official servers have horrendous lag when more than 8 people are on "the new pubs" and when >10 it stutters so badly to the point of unplayability. My hopes now stir towards mods solving my newly-introduce game interface problems.

Wow... Scott just did an amazing job in this update, added so much stuff requested by the community and now will add what you're asking for and that's your reaction.

Sometimes reading the forums is just pain, because it doesn't matter what Klei does or doesn't, people will never be happy.

I for one was perfectly happy with old Crafting UI. More-so, I never saw in all my time on these forums anyone asking for what new Crafting UI is. Only better organization, in a more logical manner, and maybe possibility to order recipes in old one - those were past suggestions I've read from various forumers. Not something filters-based. Or a big intrusive rectangle on my 4:3 screen, on which I need to click over its header to make it subside, as opposed to old UI (clicking anywhere on screen outside crafting menu made it slide off, in a natural and pleasant way).

Also what theoretical will be added, swaps between two-or-more Quick Access menu sets, is not my OP proposal; I just wanted more slots in current/unique one, to emulate old menu's functionality, accessible via scroll to mitigate the problems I have with new Crafting UI. Said swap will be one more click-based setting. As stated, in heat-of-battle it won't help me and other people like me much. C'est la vie.

And you don't need to take that personal my-or-others expressed opinions. I realize much work has been done for this new Crafting UI, and is ok. Just not something I fancy, and that's ok too. When all's-said-and-done it doesn't matter if my suggestion (or 10 others') is glossed over, we're just some people from the internet, KLei has their priorities. And most-likely will pan out well for them in the end.
