Should the insulation Factor be visible?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow players!

Since we have a new update coming up and seeing that Klei is reviewing the UI to make it more "noob friendly", I was wondering...

What if the insulation number of every piece of clothing was made visible? I mean, what if we could see that eyebrella insualtes us better than the Straw Hat? It would surely be easier for noobs to understand what they should aim for.

Pretty much what hornet said, keeping it simple like that should help preserve the learning aspect of the game without making newer players guess things entirely. Although this could have a few issues in design, I think this would over all be a neat thing to add. (Maybe something like this could even be added for armor and weapons?)

The one thing that this game doesn’t even give the slightest hint to the player about is insulation stacking.. like for example- I did not know when I first started playing the game that in order to survive spring wetness you needed both a Hat item and a Umbrella.

Same can apply to Winter & Summer without a Thermal Stone, you can Survive Summer with a Straw Hat, Pretty Parasol and running and taking cover in the shade of tree to tree…

But the game doesn’t give you any sort of hints to figure this out and most people wouldn’t know this information without looking it up on Wiki or having it told to them.

Even worse, standing in a tree's shade directly reduces your temperature, whereas clothing gives you insulation, which are both very different.
Not to mention whirly fans which also directly reduce your temperature and don't provide insulation.

No. Not necessary

I agree that it’s not necessary, but I’m always baffled as to the reason behind not having things like temperatures displayed.

It is a basic human ability to be able to approximate ambient temperature.

This is the reason i laugh at people calling Combined Status mod a cheat/game breaking. I can play without it, just saying.

Any living organisms can sense temperature and has some understanding of when one is about to freeze or overheat and how hot/cold it is outside. You don't just run around carefree and then one second later you start dying.

What is your current internal body temperature, and what is the temperature of the room you're in?

Seasons have color cubes so you can already tell the world temp and thermal stones have color while clothes make the "close to taking damage" overlay last a very long time so you can already tell the player temp.
