I never make meatballs since they spoil too fast.

95% of what I make in a primarily Wurt and Wolfgang solo world:

  1. Pierogi (of course)
  2. Bacon and eggs
  3. Figatoni

I don’t do crop farming any more and figatoni is the only dish that makes her almost as simple to play as an omnivore. All other vegetarian dish that I know of (remember: no crop farming) is bad. The only bad thing about figatoni is that it spoils fast.

I only regularly make 5 crockpot recipes:

1) meatballs (early game only)

2) Pierogi (health)

3) Bacon and eggs

4) Honey Ham

Spoil time becomes irrelevant when you have bundling wraps, so it comes down to resource efficiency, and without Warly a lot of recipes are less efficient than their base ingredients.

Frankly, as a wolfgang main once I get set up with potato/tomato farms and can easily get access to roasted potatoes, it’s hard to justify most crockpot dishes.  40 hunger per potato is a lot.

I've been away from the game for a very long time and I know new things have been added since the last time I've actually done a playthrough, so maybe things have been changed for the better? I'm not sure. To put things into perspective, I haven't really played since the major farming overhaul where you can grow the big veggies, so that can give you a rough idea as to the last time I've played. It's been a while.

That being said, I basically relied on 2 crockpot recipes for my playthroughs. Meatballs primarily for the hunger and Pierogis for the healing. I will also use the occasional Meaty Stew based on my character and their needs. I generally set up shop near a desert for easy access to cactus and can rely on them to fill the veggie requirement for recipes as well as sanity restoration.

I've long considered recipes to be far too polarizing, being either too good to the point that other recipes that fulfill similar rolls become obsolete (Meatballs) or just not good enough to warrant the time investment to craft (basically everything else). There are mods that I've tried out that  attempt  to rebalance the recipes across the board but the ones I've tried feel far unbalanced in many other ways and just add tedium to the game.

What's the fifth?

As a warly main I use a huge variety of meals, even if I'm not playing as him, once you play him for long enough you get used to cooking a variety (at least in the later stages of the game)
I still haven't cooked every recipe in the game though and I would probably benefit from learning more.

I've gone back to using Dpies after a long stint using honey, mostly because feeding merm king using honey is a bigger time sink than growing a few plots of giant dfruit every spring. Early game I mostly make butter muffins, and jam/ratatouille using 3 eggs as filler. If I'm not playing wurt I'll still be making butter muffins for their fantastic efficiency (redcap, butterfly wing, and 2 twigs is fantastic), but otherwise it'll just be meaty stew.

I usually swallow some meatballs or stew and then sleep in a siesta to recover health + sanity, feels like it's the cheapest way to recover if you're playing multiplayer.

If there are too many vegetables (when I do Wormwood or Wickerbottom), I cook massive amounts of Spicy Vegetable Stingers and Creamy Potato Purees. I think Puree is most convenient, since ice is not always readily available nearby, and it restores all 3 stats.0MeDnIG9JJ.png.a1691967c00498bbf5a5542e87e4954d.png

I love Beefy Greens - it's easy to plant a boat with lure plant, and some stone bushes from lunar island for a health snack.

Same goes to Jelly Salad - just two lure plants, some bee boxes, and you'll have a nice sanity snack.

For a bit of adventuring, Butter Muffin is a nice budget Pierogi that lasts for 15 days.

Trail Mix is absolutely lovely when low on food too, especially with juicy berries. And it also lasts for 15 days!

On all characters I usually sleep to recover HP/Sanity, but in Wickerbottom's case, I tend to cook Fancy Spiralled Tubers to recover my sanity - very cheap to combine a berry or a red mushroom with 2 sticks and potato.

Sometimes in a great mood to go fishing, especially when you're hiding in an Oasis during summer. Fishsticks is perfect for that health boost. Make a pole, fish out 4 fishes from a pond, then move on to the next one. Four is my comfort number, because the more you fish from the same pond, the longer it takes to bite, and it's kinda dull to wait 2 minutes for a single fish!

Killed a frog, or two from a pond? Or hundreds after a frog rain? Make yourself a hearty Froggle Bunwich. Or convert to eggs if it's all spoiling, up to you.

Do not be afraid to fish for Wobsters, they're incredibly easy to catch. You'll see them coming out of dens at evening - make a Sea Fishing Rod, grab a Berry or Seed + Twigs, attach them, and you're good to fish them out. Remember to reel in gradually, not too fast, but not too slow. DO NOT KILL THEM in your inventory. They must go directly into crockpot.

I stick to surf n turf, stuffed fish heads, Barnacle Linguine, beefy greens, and meatballs when all else fails.
I have to make something with all the barnacles, kelp, fish, monster meat, and leafy meat i have

It really depends on who I'm playing as. Usually I'll kill BQ then either mass produce something so I can ignore food for the next few in-game years, or just naturally accumulate enough meat through usual activities that I keep it all bundled I'll never have to worry about food. If it's wanda, it'll be meaty stew, wigfrid is honey ham. For wurt I only use the crockpot to mass produce fistfulls of jam so I can feed it to the king and merms if I need to amass an army, and for myself I'll use only durians and cooked potatoes. For warly I alternate between meaty stew and either bacon n' eggs or honey ham (which give just enough hunger to last long enough to comfortably wait out his timer and avoid the penalty.)

And then there's Wortox, where I rarely eat anything but souls. Man I love that guy.
