Is there any Klaus lore?

Recommended Posts

Not much. He seems to be the boss of the Krampus, forcing them to loot treasure for him.

I personally have a speculative theories. Klaus may have been the three-eyed red head from The Metheus puzzle, the ancient king take away magic shadow eyes from him, which resulted in his face being destroyed

Pretty sure it's been retconned, or, at least, removed, but at one point I'm pretty sure Maxwell had an examine line for him like "Charlie didn't make that one!"

Possibly only removed because how would he actually know if she did or not?

Also worth considering he is one of few one-eyed bipedal horned creatures.

Klaus, Deerclops, and Infernal Swineclops all have visual similarities with each other. (Klaus and Swineclops especially!)

Not necessarily Klaus lore, but Maxwell says "You don't belong in MY world" when he is attacking a regular deer. Plus, he seems to show an admiration towards Klaus (My, what a magnificently horrific creature), whereas for the other bosses that are not part of the main story line, he always needs to explain to the others that he didn't create those (Bee Queen: I didn't make that one! Really! / Eye of Terror: Don't look at me, it's definitely not one of mine), or he shows some form of disgust against them (Antlion: Have you no pride? / Toadstool: What an abomination! / Lord of the Fruitflies: Hmph, they let just anyone be a lord these days).

My conclusions from these quotes is that Maxwell dislikes most creatures that were created by Charlie, but Klaus is definitely one that he respects from an "aesthetic" perspective. Maybe this has to do with the fact that he interprets Klaus as an "overgrown Krampus" that was corrupted by magic, but then again, we still don't know if Krampi were Maxwell's creations, although we know that they originate from another plane of existance. Wortox also recognizes Klaus as one of his own kind, by the way.

These are all the lore-related stuff I could think of.
