Is there a way to fix sandstorms?

Recommended Posts

Try disabling server-side mods if you have any that aren't just beefalo bar or anything popular else or just make sure that there was no rain recently, if I'm not wrong sandstorm's presense dependess on world's wetness (because it disappears when rain comes) or world's temperature, if world's temperature is 70+ (so you overheat) sandstorm is here, that's why there's no storm in first day of summer or when it rains, because rain temporarily makes temperature of the world lower, not sure for how many degrees exactly and if it's enough to put it on <69 temperature though.

Thanks for the reply! But if you see the images you realize that the lake is already
there, therefore there is no humidity... and also as I said there are areas with a
sandstorm, but they do not cover neither the lake nor half of the oasis... and
no, the world is completely vanilla, the beefalo bar does not affect anything and
the hud is aesthetic

But it's the only thing that prevents the base from burning xd

From what I know it's just the biome itself what prevents base from burning, not exactly sandstorm, did something smolder already while there was no sandstorm?

i dont think the sandstorm its self is the reason the oasis desert dont have wildfires, alsol you could disable wildfires all together, or make some iceflingomatics if you actualy want that random fire

Yep, the biome is not what prevents things from burning, it's the sandstorm, if you want you can do the test discovering a lake or making an artificial oasis... and well, the post was to see if someone knew how to generate with commands the floors that generate the sandstorm xd

It is, do the tests, my base started to burn in the middle of summer, the lake was active and there was no humidity... there was just no sandstorm in the lake... Why would I have to do so many replacements when the sandstorm should be? it is as if the glommer statue is not generated, it is not your fault nor should you fix it with other options like some top hat for sanity

i would say that it's because word's wetness level but as i can see you still have lake in oasis, so probabyl mods

No, as I said before the world is completely vanilla, it has happened to me a couple of times on Xbox One

TheWorld:PushEvent("ms_stormchanged", {stormtype=STORM_TYPES.SANDSTORM,setting=true})

this console command may work, not sure if it will, just took it from sandstorm's lua file a minute ago and changed a bit

just disable wild fires and start to enjoy not basing in oasis every time then

Yes, that's what I'm doing... but it's still a problem that Klei should fix, don't you think?

Well... apparently the oasis has a "hidden turf" that causes the sandstorm to arrive only in the oasis...

Ice flingomatics, above average trees, water balloons, blue staves, luxury fans, your hands, not being near the base.

The sandstorm is the cause of the smolder protection so hard that if you are not in the sandstorm then things inside of it will burn if you're close enough. If you see the overlay on your screen you won't generate fires, allowing things near the sandstorm but not inside to get fireproof. If you don't see the overlay, such as loitering near the border, unlucky timing as you approach, or being on a boat near it, you can burn things that normally you would think are safe from the fires.

It is the oasis, it is the place to have a base... the forum is to see if there is a solution to the sandstorm, there are no options to make another base xd

I think it's a common problem from the oasis desert generation, very often I see people worlds and mines have sandstorm free area, it's usually big lines where other biome branches try to connect. So, they might not really be part of the desert ? :concern:

@Detaki Would you be willing to share your world files?

I got mad and deleted the world...sorry haha...although as I say, it's a generation failure, maybe you can prove it by spawning world after world and checking out the oasis.

It has happened to me, when it is near a biome with killer bees... but this time half of the oasis (literally) was with a sandstorm and the other was not... and the worst thing is that my base, the left side had to wear glasses and the other does not xd... And thanks! I'll try to see how it goes

I remember on one map I noticed sandstorm was skipping middle of desert. Since is biome-related, I think in these places could be generated as parts of other biomes.

It could be... but as I have said and reiterate, half of the lake had a storm and the other did not... the oasis had some parts with a storm and others not xd
