Keller Max
I want to try to explore ruins on my first autumn. But the problem is, i don't know the best way to locate the ruins fast. Any tips?
Viktor234
Get a Mosquito from the surface and drop it in the caves, it should fly towards the center of the map where the mud biome is. Now scout the whole mud biome until you find some lichen. Once you find them, just keep going since the ruins are located behind the lichen. I heard you can also locate ruins by connecting 3 sinkholes or something. Never figured how exactly to do that.

ArubaroBeefalo
Blue and green mushroom forest are usually close to the ruins. Often both biomes are connected to the muddy biome (more common with the blue one) Liken marks the proximity of the ruins
Guille6785
this video demonstrates some tactics to find the ruins, but by far the most important thing to do is just practice and you'll get the hang of it on your own

SinancoTheBest
It's a flawed and simplified model but this is how the caves are usually laid out - the mud biome, which is easily identifiable with its orange turf and many light flowers is located in the gravitational center of the caves system. Most of the other cave biomes like guano, tricolor mushtree, bunnymen village and sinkhole grasslands form the separate branches of it. Ruins are on a separate branch of the mud biome that doesn't go to a sinkhole. Entering a couple different sinkholes will also give you an easy estimate where the center is located. Travel to the mud, then look for the lichen biome to find the entrance into ruins. Lichen marks the wilds and by venturing deeper, you will find the militaristic ruins biomes with clockworks, thulecite statues and pseudoscience stations beyond the inner corridors. mo
