TripleM999
One can prevent an open PW-basin from offgasing by putting a layer of clean water above it. To be sure, use amounts of 2kg+ per tile. Didn't tested the other case with lower than 2 or 1kg, but from random observations it instead seems to promote offgasing, maybe something to play for the PO-fans... I don't like dirtgreen yucky air. Was a random discovery through a gulp fish, as clean water will always try to float above PW. After a a small test, even miniscule amounts (10g) of water seem to prevent the offgasing of the PW. KonfigSys
it is known mechanics for vanilla game/ How it is related to the DLC? People generally like pw offgasing and want to speed it up but no cut it down. As you add some filters you get extra oxygen and clay needed for ceramic. Weird, because my aesthetic sensibilities are MUCH more offended by mixed liquid pools than by a cloud of miasma, and as such this "solution" is like shooting off your foot to deal with a cracked toenail. Guess everyone's got their own preferences. KittenIsAGeek
Yes, a layer of water will prevent PW from off-gassing, if that is what you're trying to do -- but so will a layer of gas over 1800g. The off-gassing is surface related, so the more surface area that is exposed, the more it will off-gas. It is also worth noting that PW only off-gasses from the upper surface. Thus building a storage tank with airflow tiles will see no benefit on the sides or bottom of the pool, but building a wide pool will give more instances of off-gassing. Also, the amount of liquid available in the surface tile determines how much PO2 will be released during an off-gas event. This means that if your pool has a surface layer that is only a few grams, you won't get much PO2, but if its a nearly full tile (900kg), you will get a lot more. Finally, you can prevent contaminating your base with the off-gassed PO2 by sealing off the room. Here's an example of sealing a room and making use of the PO2 inside it.  Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/125290-prevent-open-pw-basins-from-offgasing/#findComment-1409708 Share on other sites
RageLeague
It works irl too. Part of the experiment involving the proof that plants absorbs lots of water is putting a layer of oil on top of the water to prevent the water from evaporating and interfering with the experiment. Although I'm sure irl pwater and water mixes.
