Scale the time it takes for a boat to turn with the number of sails.

Recommended Posts

So, everyone talks about how slow boats are, but i have a boat with 2 malbatross sails and 2 normal sails, which is really fast. so what's the problem? well, if there is a sea stack field up ahead, you turn the wheel so slowly that you crash before you can avoid it. So basically, you either have the world's slowest pancake or you just crash your boat! Please, Klei, let the number of the sails influence how fast they turn. The more sails, the faster they turn. This would make boating much more efficient for exploration and cause much less wasted resources.

You realize that anything past the 2nd Winged Sail does nothing, right? The boat's speed is capped.

Also, one of the main advantage of Winged Sails is that they close instantly, which means you once you see an obstacle, you often still have time to close the boat. The trick is to first close the Winged Sails and then drop the anchor, since the anchor actually takes some time to take effect, whereas closing the sails will instantly slash your speed to the point you won't suffer more than a small bump.
