A Sporchid Observation

Recommended Posts

I don't know if people know about this, but I found an interesting interaction with sporchids I haven't seen before.  Apparently, if the tile they are in is crude oil (or I assume any other liquid) and the tile above them is CO2, they dump all their spores in to the crude oil instead of the CO2.  Since dupes can't get germs from liquids, this essentially neutralizes the dangers of sporchids, which could make it "safe" to use in a main base area without walling it off.

I had the same situation. Keep in mind they will still release some zombie spores when planting.

I didn't realise You want to keep them open and merged in crude oil:D

Or some other liquid.  Without pip-planting, you can stack liquids to contain the spores.  I'm trying to think of a use case for this technique that is better than encasing them in window tiles, but I haven't thought of one yet.

Yea, I noticed last night that the CO2 coming out of my gas grill from burning NG pumped up from the oil biome that has long been contaminated with zombie spores ( why don't they ever die? ) has been spreading some zombie spores around my base in little pockets of CO2.

Anyone infected? Dupes have a pretty high resistance and are not supposed to breathe CO2 anyways.
