If you prefer a simpler set up

I think @Tonyroid's design accomplishes what yours doesn't: generate the maximum amount of electricity from the steam. (You don't provide numbers other than that the AT runs 45% of the time during eruption, which suggests that the turbines run very hot.) Your design values space over power efficiency. Both are fine for what they are.

Tony's could be made smaller even without changing the way it works, but it's a pretty good effort. :)

weird mechanics

I love that diagonal pump. I am not sure that I would combine them with a door compressor like that, but while they may be weird, they're good weird.

I always like your work @Saturnus and I also prefer to avoid exploit-esque mechanics. I never tried this version but it clearly has some strengths that I wasn't prioritizing. (Also, your post just showed me your double bridge bypass for an AT, I'll definitely have to try that out.)

After having a look, I have a thought I'd like your feedback on. I can't tell whether it's intended to prevent the steam vent from getting over-pressured in every situation. I think it would work most of the time, but If someone has a beefy steam vent that emits 8kg/s while erupting then it doesn't seem like two turbines are sufficient to clear the steam. I think it would get over-pressure in about 10 seconds.

Such steam vent doesn't exist. Searching through the tools not included seed database the maximum output (hot) steam vent I can find is 3.47kg/s during eruption out of the 83776 seeds registered with minimum one steam vent. And that couldn't possibly overpressurize the steam vent due to the eruption cycle simply not being long enough to build up sufficient pressure.

Here's a 4.4kg/s from my test map. I know I've seen a 7.5-ish recently, I'll try to re-spawn it. I think I can calculate the maximum that's possible from the possible baseline characteristics. I'll try that.

EDIT: Hmm. When I do the math I can't get the steam while erupting to go over 2.5kg/s. But... clearly they DO go higher than that. I see them all the time. I must not have something right. I'll keep working on it.

I tried calculating that but got confused by the nomenclature on oni-db. If my head good, the absolute maximum steam per second during eruption is 25 kg/s. It assumes shortest possible eruption and activity cycles, and the maximum 1 kg/s average emission rate simultaneously. Highly unlikely to encounter all three conditions at once, especially considering how wide these windows are.

My gut-feeling from what I've seen is that sounds about right. Anything over 3.5kg/s is pretty rare, but it's possible to get one that is nuclear. I tried spawning a bunch and the biggest I've seen is this 7.6kg/s one:

EDIT: I found the mistake in my math and I can confirm that my result is also 25kg/s for the beefiest possible eruption rate.

Roughly 5 minutes in you address the tempshift tiles behind the AT. Placing tempshift tiles adjacent to insulated tiles is something I avoid. Had you considered using regular drywall to add thermal mass instead? You could use 8 drywalls instead of 4 tempshifts.

When I build it with dupes later in the video I do it a bit differently so it isn't an issue. The tempshift plates are largely about equalizing the temperature quickly. I didn't experiment with alternatives, so drywall might be sufficient, or the plates might not be necessary at all.
