Single column water slaughterhouse, doesn't work?

Recommended Posts

So I am trying to do a single column water slaughterhouse, but it doesn't seems to work, cause even with water over the mesh tile when I close the door it doesn't surpass the egg, and when I open the door again there's much less water in the tank. Is this a known limitation? Must have 2 columns for it to work?

I'm not one of the experts by a large margin but if i had to guess, i think the problem with one tile width is when the game shuffles elements around it has few places to choose from and it loses material in the process. A possible solution might be to put airflow tiles next to the egg instead of solid so the air can displace outwards and maybe it wont calculate the water incorrectly. I know it "should" push the air upwards but the engine has it's own physics.

IIRC, you need 2 horizontal doors to avoid the occasional liquid deletion. Just make sure to delay the second door by a few seconds otherwise you'll be deleting liquid.

Also note that water does nothing to eggs. Your downing chamber will only work once the eggs hatch.

So I am trying to do something very simple that could be solved with a bit of thinking, or googling, or just playing the game for a bit, but I want answers now now now, and I deserve the exclusive attention of this entire forum, and I'm not going to thank anyone even though I get helpful replies Immediately, because it's nothing special, it's just what I deserve.

I seriously thought we were going to go a full day without a new engrossing @gaucho_tche topic...

Dude I don't know where you're from, maybe this behavior is the norm where you live. In that case you're not only learning a tricky game, but adapting to a new culture here. That's fine. Just slow down, ok?

And who are you to create forum rules like how frequent can posts be made? Some sort of narcissist who like to play the cards everywhere? Mind your own business pal, if you are not interested in a thread just don't open it and go on with your life.

Pretty sure some fluid deletion mechanic is going on here. Someone more knowledgable could explain exactly how that works.

No need to get so worked up over someone complaining about the prolificacy of your post. There's no rule on how often you can make a new topic as long as it isn't spamming.

I'm not the first person to tell you to take it slow with the basic questions, but somehow it doesn't occur to you that you may need to change your behavior? Multiple people told you that they won't be helping you anymore because of your attitude, but somehow the fault is still with others?

Welcome to my ignore list, and goodbye.

Great! Best news ever.

Of what behavior do you speak?  Asking questions is one of the main purposes of the forums and the OP has not been posting bad questions.  Keep in mind that though many questions have been asked before, a lot of the answers are outdated, so asking it again is not unreasonable.  And you don't need to engage with a topic you aren't interested in.

You could put the eggs in the water under a closed pneumatic door to drown the critters when they hatch.  Eggs fall through pneumatic doors, which makes dropping them in easy.

Thanks for the support!

So what you are saying is that i can put the eggs directly underwater, and that creatures will hatch even submerse into it?

Exactly. Eggs will fall through closed pneumatic doors, as will critters that you can force to begin to fall.

So just drop anything you want to kill through a closed pneumatic door into a tile or 2 of water and they'll drown with no need for doors opening and closing. (The thread I posted and tagged you in a couple nights ago shows this technique for hatches.)

Making hatches fall is easy and that technique should be able to be applied to climbing critters like dreckos, pips, and shove voles.

I don't think you can force flying critters to fall so pufts probably will need to either hatch in water or have a more complex kill chamber.

I'd speculate that the barrage of basic questions with the implication that either the game is bugged or it is some issue with the design itself, and not the OP's fault. It feels as though gaucho_tche would benefit from a 'simple questions, simple answers' thread.

Though I don't mean to offend, the attitude honestly reminds me of playing MMOs as a kid and having the users who would spam chat asking for handouts instead of putting the work in to earn it themselves.

(@gaucho_tche you're obviously more respectful and better spoken than that, I'm just speculating on why your methods of thread creation might rub people the wrong way)

Yes, that is what I mean.  And trap the critters in the water with a door.  Pneumatic is best for this.

Wow, I can't believe you're backing this dudes behavior on this forum.  He's rude and pushy with his behavior for one.  Doesn't take the time to figure out anything on his own, and wants everyone to just hand him designs, send him save files, etc, etc, etc.  I was personally ecstatic when I saw @biopon give him a little piece of his mind.

You are in fact being rude to people who try to tell you to stop spam-posting. ONI is a game where you need to figure out what is going wrong in the systems that you have built. You shouldn't need help for problems like you are having. Take some time to experiment and figure out problems. You are welcome to the forums but please stop asking questions each time you have a problem. The learning curve is pretty sharp and that is the fun of this game. You are acting as if each time your math teacher asks you a problem you just ask him what the answer is therefore you are not learning anything.

I am saying this without any hate towards you nor any bad feelings this is just my recommandation to help you and I think others will be happy if you apply it.

Again, who are you to tell me how i should play or what should or shouldn't ask here? If you like to play your way, great, but respect how other people like to play. Reading your post we can see a guy giving a class on how oni should be played. Don't act like you are the owner of the truth. Master of the right or wrong. I play in accordance with the rules, and also there's nothing wrong in asking questions in a forum designed for that. So mind your own business and stop harassing other people with your own dictatorship rules.
