I'm confused, CO2 in space ? from meteors ?

It's my first game with space acces, scanner and all I see is.. vaccum (and hot debris).

Where is the CO2 ?

The trails of the meteors are composed of CO2.  If you have them fall through areas with drywall, it will stick around and you can capture it.

Additionally, the further they fall, the more CO2 you get.

It is way more than you would imagine. It just hasn’t been overexploited in a forum post form yet so they have not nerfed it.

It is sort of a conflict of interests because most people want to cover the surface with solar panels and place the bunker doors as high up as possible.

Hi,

If you have geysers it is easy peasy. My to Fav ones - due to fact that Meat does not rot.

And shoves. i think this is what you want (i need to change atmo there to CO2 - can't be bothered lol

Edit: forgot to mention. for all three setups meat is secondary resource:

Slicksters get rid of heat from copper volcano (ladder up

Puffs make bleach

Shove voles - cause i hate them running around free

Edit 2 - none of these are tamed. All wild.

I mean, all you need to know is that a critter will drop 1 egg during their lifetime if they are not overcrowded, unless they die from hunger before that.

...if they are not confined or cramped. Overcrowded has no influence on reproduction.

Yes, I have the fishtanks already. I want to scale up to a regime of frost burgers though. The fishtank is a really nice way to get a lot of food for virtually no resources or dupe time, but it's not the highest tier of food.

Edit: sorry, you mentioned 'food source'. I would prefer an animal I don't need to feed, unless it's a self regenerating resource like balm lillies, polluted water (I have way more than I need) or regolith.

I am still on "cooked fish" but I was already thinking what I will do with that many pacus and free fillets when I switch to better food and maybe good idea is to use it to auto-feed hatches and that way automatically change fillets into meat... (but a bit problem is with different hatch forms so number of hatches would go slowly down)

I think there is no domestic critter that drops meat who can be left without food and grooming and reproduce. Wild critters don't starve so shove voles are best meat source.

Also, pips actually do lay an egg while starving... They start with 1000 callories and lose 100 by default, being glum makes them lose 20 instead. They will be glum since you are not grooming them, so... to run out of 1000 callories, they need 50 cycles which happens to be the time they need to lay an egg, their reproduction is 2%, and there are also starving cycles.

Correct numbers for pip are:
Full pip stomach is 1000 kCal
Baby pip is born with 900 kCal energy (90% capacity).
Baby burns during 5 cycles 50 kCal or 10 kCal (10 if confined).

So not fed adult Tame pip starts with max. 890 kCal and burns 20 kCal per cycle.

He will start starving at age 49.5 (5 + 890/20) and die 10 cycles after at age 59.5

Tame glum pip reproduction is 1.6666% (not 2%) so he needs to live at least until 65 (5 + 60) to lay egg. (same as hatch)

Print and collect wild vole eggs and put them on one tile, with a sweeper to put any eggs that fall back on the tile. Resource and labor free meat farm complete.

I think my save has about 100 billion calories of meat now.

I prefer having the voles in a metal box with enough automation to deliver eggs inside and move the meat out.

You can make it a lot smaller now that you can build Conveyor Chutes.

Nice one.

I prefer a bit more open designs - there is enough space on a planet and ( as silly as it sounds) that critters like to move around to put them maybe a plant later etc. ;)

So if I understand it correctly, Wild voles don't need to be fed, and don't get the cramped debuff that makes them not reproduce?
