I'm going to be 100% honest, Wendy is an underwhelming (and overrated, if you ask me) character. Sure, she can be viable if you craft a dozen of Abby's flowers, but she still feels lacking. Doesn't help how Willow took her unique role and how Abby's niche isn't even that viable when Wicker, Winona, Wormwood, Webber, and even the general traps you can make, out shines Abby. 

Some ideas me and some friends had for Wendy:

Idea 1: Give Wendy a supportive role, make Abby more reliable to use.

Instead of Wendy's rework focusing on just  Abby, Wendy should also have some perks of her own. 

*Is a botanist

  • Under the food tab, Wendy can craft flowers and dark flowers using petals and nightmare fuel 
  • Can craft a weaker Blossomed wreath (15Hp/min, 80 def) using butterflies, football helm, and dragon fruit

*Stronger Abby

  • Abby can be controlled more easily 
  • Can get stronger by using nightmare fuel to upgrade herself (like wx), increasing dmg, HP, AoE, and HP regeneration. loses half of consumed nightmare fuel on death. Can only consume 10 nightmare fuel  

*Downsides

  • Gains less stats from all sources (.75x) when Abby isn't active
  • Bigger Aggro pull when Abby isn't active

idea 2: Transformation: Wendy and Abby can change their perks and downsides

In general 

  • Abby is more easier to control 
  • Abby has doubled HP in normal form

 Wendy - normal state

  • Least aggro priority
  • Can use Hp to support allies
  • Deals less dmg the less Hp she has (lowest mod = .5x)

Abby - normal state

  • Bigger aggro pull 
  • Faster respawn time

Wendy - ghost form

  • 1/2 of Abby's Hp
  • Low aggro pull
  • Gives nearby allies one of the following for a short period of time during combat: Hp regen (regen 20 hp during 20 sec), shield (10 sec), bramble husk effect (based on dmg taken) 
  • 30 sec cooldown for each buff

Abby - human form 

  • 1/2 of Wendy's sanity 
  • 1x dmg
  • Def, speed, and dmg increase the lower Hp is 
  • Doesn't eat when full, gland, honey poultice, and other non-food healing items takes twice as long to use. 

States can be changed by clicking on abby or one her flower - each change has a 50 sanity penalty.

Idea 3: simply buff Abby to make her more reliable

  • More easier to control
  • Bigger aggro pull
  • Deals more dmg (2x) to enemies not in groups 
  • Faster Hp regen when not in combat 
  • Abby respawns within a few minutes if another flower is placed on the ground before she dies 
  • Can be given armor 

 

 

I know that there are obviously better ideas than the ones listed, but I feel like Wendy needs something more for her gameplay to more fun and interesting. Since, at the moment, she just comes off worse than all the characters (besides Wes) since all of her perks relies of of Abby - who dies very quickly.

that or I don't know how to play as her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it be cool if abby could haunt things, even better if she had more haunting effects than player ghosts, also maybe she could be able to possess enemies and using their abilities and stats, if the enemy dies, then abby pops out without any damage taken to her. Like you could have abby possess a hound and fight with that. Also, enemies possessed by her are buffed depending on the time of day, like how abby is normally. Maybe, you do that by using the flower on something to haunt it, and if its a valid creature you also have the option to have abby possess it. Of course some enemies are immune to possession, like the bosses or nightmare creatures. Maybe have some creatures like tree guardians or spider queens available for possession, but will be able to fight against it periodically.

Maybe abby could also have a desperation attack of sorts, where they go maximum horror and scare all the enemies around her for a while, though some people might not like that as it might mess with their plans or cause enemies to run out of range of something.

I still liked the idea of Wendy wearing Abigails flower as a headslot item, boosting wendys own abilities and becoming one with her sister. 

Idk what abilities she'd get but there could be tiers depending on how ready Abigail is

Edit: Personally I feel Abigails fine as she is. Wendy herself is who I feel would appreciate little more love in her upcoming rework

The only reason why my friend wanted that I'm in the first place is because he would rather prefer to build flowers for an sanity station over making one in a really "tacky" way by using Abby's flower.

i want to be completely honest here and say that i don't think that new craftables will be that common because klei rn is focusing on the more abilities based perks e.g wortox and tbh i think this is a smarter idea as crafter heavy characters such as wickerbottom and wormwood is becoming too basic, i mean no offence by this and simply stating the much more complex perks should come be and enough with my rant

i really like the ideas you are putting here and think that it would make the playing wendy a much more enjoyable experience and i think that buffing wendy as a supportive role is a wise idea as her balance between weakness and strengthen make her a liability  

simply i think this is a great idea
