Re-roll the MAP SEED, not the coordinates, to get the preview to display the correct information. Tested it a bunch of times, this seems to fix the incorrect preview information.

As i said, even when I rolled the MAP SEED it still gave me a giant boulder in the starting biome. I rolled the map seed and got one that had no boulders, only subsurface ocean and irregular oil or something. Did not touch the coordinates.

Well, works for me. No boulders on my maps.

Obsidian boulders are so insanely poorly executed. I don't understand how anyone at Klei looked at them and thought "yeah nothing wrong here!". They are so HUGE, they need to be at least 50% less in size. They are boring AF and need to be made of more than just one resource. Add to it the insane increase of granite on most asteroids. Suddenly we have a HUGE increase in two resources that we already had plenty of based on what they are good for.

For me they are random - mixed - big small. I like them, how they are, klei did good. I want hard game, no casual clicker.

But this one i liked much, from removing fog of war at cycle 22 up to 90 i was in full panicmode.
Breach in abbyssalite - no exos and it was so hot that my liquid locks turned into petrol.
All algae / slime was turned into dirt and those little biatches carried 400C° hot dirt into my  maelwood farm.
Had not even time to build toilets. No exos / insulated stuff researched lol, only one digger level 3. Many skillpoints, but not enough morale to spend those. Dupes where complaining hard ^^
GG was very fun for me, best experience i got from ONI.

One use I can think of for the larger boulders is to have guaranteed solid (as in no gaps, unstable materials, or threat of state change) land capable of growing wild plants. It's easier to cleanly carve a "facility" out of a boulder than it is to even find that volume of solid land normally. Badlands worldgen is probably the exception with its monumental mineral blocks.

People are complaining about these being monolithic or ugly but I think that feature makes them fairly unique by this game's standards, and to be fair they even have a geode variant. IMO it's great that they patched the problems with them being overly invasive in spawning biomes. Also I believe geysers are generated after boulders so at least they don't seem to get overwritten by all that obsidian.

Coordinate is map seed now also: world_name-letter-seed-digit (no sense about letter and digit).

About stone. From one side, this things huge and eat space and valuable resources (and 'help' spread heat). From other, obsidiant is good material for hot (termal reactive, quick cool down) and lava (high melt point) build.
