Wiona catapult repair

my idea for the catapults would be they need some repair after a while which only wiona can do. she could use her tape for that. there could be like 4 states. if the catapults dont get repaired by wiona for a long time then also she cant repair them anymore. cause she has only her tapes to fix it a bit and not to repair broken things. this way players coudnt just use her catapults without having a wiona in the world.

Self-inflicted damage from use, combined with removing their health regen but letting them be repaired with Flex Tape, would be something to keep her involved in gameplay.
Maybe give them a state where they're 'broken', non-functional, but can still be repaired, so the self-destruction doesn't catch the player by surprise too much; and so you don't get blindsided for not babysitting the farm area.
Multiple levels of visible damage so we know how long they have left.

Basically, make their health function like Walls, using tape to fix them rather than more of the same item.

Have you ever tried playing as a Wickerbottom in a server with a WX-78? You're basically always going to be on call for overcharge 24/7. The same would be true of Winona if she had to repair her catapults. Other players would want to use them against bosses, so they'd be calling the Winona over to repair them every time the boss respawns.

Maintenance like that is not fun.

I don't think catapults should require constant babysitting. Winona is an engineer who is so dedicated to quality that her metabolism increases while crafting, there's no way the building she makes most would naturally degrade. There should be another way to force the Winona to stay.

I think that when catapults are killed (via too much damage or structure destroying mobs like Bearger) they should revert to a "broken state" which at which point they can be fixed via Winona. Winona would say something like "Yeesh. That'll need some rocks, a few twigs and tape". When you give the broken catapult all of the necessary ingredients of one type, it will disappear from the examine quote ("Busted. Looks like tape and some rock will fix it though").

When all items are given to the catapult it will come back good as new. The catapult ruin is functionally identical to a destroyed wall.

 

Maybe only Winona could get rid of the catapult ruins?

That would be mostly addressed if anybody could repair the catapults, but only with tape. I like that suggestion.
