Saturnus
Sometimes in my game it would be handy to have a flow sensor but there isn't one available in the game. However, you can build one. This set up will sense if the flow rate is above or below the amount set the valve because any excess will flow past the valve and trigger the element sensor. Note that the extra pieces of pipe on the output is necessary to merge the packets back together properly. But what if you want something that has more than an above or below one fixed point. Well, you just insert more. Just note that it complicates correct merging on the output so experimenting a bit might be necessary. Xuhybrid
What are you going to do by knowing something overflowed? Struggling to see any relevant situation. Soulwind
Saturnus's setup is better than the one I had, but I've used something similar to turn off various creation buildings when the output product starts to overproduce. I do that with storage tanks. you just continue the overflow piping along the inlet of the tank. if tank is less than full all packets go in. if full, packets continue past in the overflow pipe portion which can go somewhere or have sensor. Saturnus
8 minutes ago, Craigjw said: I use this to switch off excess O2 production, which prevents the pipes backing up and failing the mechanical filters. It's backed up at the moment, so the output is off. I detailed the pipe blockage detector on the forum a long time ago (the same day element sensors was introduced in the game). And btw, you can make it a lot more compact than that. This post describes a flow sensor, not a blockage sensor. It tells you if the flow is above or below a certain flow rate. It's related to my original blockage sensor but for different uses. Craigjw
My bad, I mistook the valves for shut-off's. thank you for correcting me.
