rockets to different astroid for new game play

how cool it will be if be build a rocket to go a different astroid with different biome and so on to keep surviving and build new bases

But then what about diversity ? ONI just isn't build with many types of asteroids in mind. You get starting asteroid with randomized biomes and that's about it, there is like zero reason for me to build such taxing project as a rocket, and send duplicants to a new asteroid for the sake of starting new colony (I might as well just restart game from beginning).

There is nothing new to be seen and explore, establishing colony would be just matter of routine and zero events, encounters and etc. Current system works and can only get better, the system like this is great idea but would only bring repetitive cycle. (Maybe potentially an DLC can address this or post launch updates).

@Senteliksmy argument is all about what to do once u have pretty much done whole digging exploring and surviving in one oni world seed map . there is nothing than to start a new map with new dublicant. but what if instead we could import the dublicant that we have trained for so many hours to a new base(which will be advance version eg difficulty level 2,3,4..) and as the modding of world generation begin it will bring new challenges to survive , we would continuing with new world and new excitement of working with new elements .

that way game will not be repetitive...i guess ...more senior player could give more suggestion

Although I love this idea im not sure how practical it could be in execution. ONI is “based” around real world elements and their properties. We have lots of them in game now, but in order for this new asteroid to be exciting it would need completely different biomes with new creatures, food sources and elements. They would likely have to make majority of them up and this I feel would take away from the game. But maybe not...

I disagree.  I'd be perfectly happy with the new worlds being just normal worlds, or maybe favor certain existing biomes based on planet type.  Same materials used, just give us a way to transport from our main colony.  Sort of a spin on restarting, but allowing use of the existing dupes and materials we've gathered.

By normal world do you mean like the current asteroid? I just don’t see a point in that, why not just start a new game if that’s the case.

Because a new game starts with new dupes and no materials.  This would allow continuation of the previous colony with a new settlement at the new asteroid.  They could make it smaller if needed, and maybe have the biomes on the new world reflect the type of planet.  For example, a magma planet would be mostly oil/magma biome.

Instead of a new game maybe just a continuation of the same one

Maybe make the farther away astroids with the really high tier materials not possible to get to unless you build refuiling/resupply station on a closer asteroid

The cargo pods could act both ways

the astroids already have very diverse bioms they would just be a full cold biom or full slime biom

multiple bases might be a lot to ask for though

Going to a new asteroid to start a new game would mean you got all the tech done and all the dupes experienced but no base infrastructure, no stress management, no food sources and no meteor protection. On one side this is challenging on the other it removes some interesting parts of the game. Oh and no printing pod as well, unless we get a way to pack it up and put in the rocket.

I like the way exploration is done in Astroneer where you can build a shuttle early on and jump from planet to planet. It is needed there as no planet has all the resources and you need to visit multiple to progress. In ONI space travel is much later tech but i can imagine building temporary bases in space. You`d build a one time use gantry (that collapses once you liftoff) and mostly ladders to access the resources you are looking for. But maybe you could find some food and build a minibase to extend the mission time and gather more stuff.

Printing pod module for the rocket. Requires "printing pod seed" only available from deconstructing a printing pod.

Of course the landing fails and you end up in the middle of the next planet. You didn't research "landing module", did you? You didn't even know you needed to research a landing module until after you've crashed. And how are you going to figure out how to land a rocket until after you've tried and failed a few times? Turn out, though, the best way to avoid heavy meteor bombardment is just to head for the surface at full speed, burrow through layers of shock-heated rack, and end up in the middle of the new asteroid. Just like before, except this time with a few colonists (that pod module can't hold everybody), some bootstrap resources, and your printing pod seed.

Most people here have talked about rocket launches with crew as stopping the old game and starting a new one. It makes more sense to me to put some crew on a rocket, launch them out forever to the destination, and the old game continues with the remaining dupes, The crew that left start a their own new base and new game. A branching tree of games instead of a linear succession of them.

Big morale boost to get a postal rocket back with video mail from your old friends.
