Recent Map Generation is...

Recommended Posts

Since the new update the maps remind of the ones we use to get way back. They're more random than ordered. And the roads and trails... Is it just me or has something gone terribly wrong with them?! I mean they circle and turn in on themselves everywhere leading nowhere at all. Not ever the stone roads go anywhere anymore. The just feel off,

The worlds in Don't Starve are supposed to be odd. Roads loop around on themselves and savannas will appear in the middle of a dense forest. This is intentional. As for reverting recent world gen changes... we haven't changed anything. World gen (for the upper world) in Six Feet Under is the same as it was last update, and has been for quite some time. In fact, @Alia is on vacation at the moment.

Didn't @Ipsquiggle also work on worldgen? Or were his contributions in the content (levels/tasks/rooms design), as opposed to infrastructure (node positioning/selection, edge branching, etc.)?

There's definitely something different. Perhaps something that dictates certain parts of the map or influences its shape, but not necessarily part of the original code for generating them?

it may very well be just a run of bad luck that's causing these map generationss

*Edit
but seriously something has changed and players can feel it in the maps there was a certain... order to the world before that has now gone missing. A natural feel to the maps that is no longer there.

Yeah, all of the sudden I'm getting a LOT more triangle" sections bordered by water and a larger increase of Walrus/Tallbird camps.

For me, I notice more the former than the latter.

Yes. Yes so much. This needs to be fixed.
