There's one problem with the poll; there's no "No Change" option for map size and you're not allowed to pick none of them. I chose all so that it was still a net even, because I think they're good.

I like that Hamlet uses short seasons. It puts a LOT more pressure on you, because you don't have time to get SO IMMENSELY prepared in the first easy season that the rest is trivial. There's also more interactivity, e.g. even after you get gear to make Humid season a lot easier, you want to use the season to collect nettles for Lush.

The year cycles a bit quickly and once you have hats/nettle farm it's a bit simple, buuut, that's because we've still got the likely worst season upcoming in a few days, so that's to be expected. And nettles are still a bit tricky to farm (sprinkler doesn't last long, they wilt immediately... practically need a nettle base), and you can't just ignore fog, so it's pretty fair. Not like winter and spring in RoG where you just get a high tier clothing and totally ignore the season.

I love that there isn't these ENORMOUS branching continents to spend days and days and days exploring, because the vast majority of the exploration was just -nothingness- you powered through to fill out the map. Hamlet's exploration is actually condensed down to looking for critical things like stuff to sell, nettles to farm, ruins to unique items/locations, etc, not just spending forever trying to fill out my map for next to no real reward.

also, if you want a bigger map, you can just set that in world customization, yeah?

Sorry oversight by me. I thought to have multiple choice meant you can skip it too.My bad.

The seasons aren't really challenging when compared to ROG & Shipwrecked ones (atleast in my opinion) thats why there is low time for preparations. Since no season stops plants from growing (except for nettle & blooming tubers) and animals from spawning (butterflys, pikos, dung beetles), all you really need is a shelter. Personally i think the season should be more dangerous, so i have high expectations for aporkalpyse.

I've been able to ignore the fog so far : ^)

Yes, the map was much bigger but we had wormholes & electric vortexes to close the distance.

Also, there were speed boosting items like an infinite walking cane in RoG, sails, faster boats, propeller, sleek hat. The challenge was overcoming gradually with building faster items, discovering various resources.

Oh god, the map size in shipwrecked was utterly insane. It took an eternity to explore even half of the map, and there were indeed many "one of a kind" things you wanted to find. But, apart from those one of a kind things, it was moooostly just a whole lot of nothing... zzzzzzzz. What a pain.

Say that again after you get mowed down by an angry mob of ~30 Rabid Beetles.
