Iriswaters
So, this is a recurring issue with various bases. Dupes simply refusing to use the apothecary. I currently have 2 dupes set to do nothing but operate, supply and store, with operate and supply at max and store at mid. I have an apothecary set to priority 9, sitting next to a rock crusher at priority 6. The rock crusher has a permanent order to turn egg shell into lime. The apothecary has a permanent order to make vitamins. It's been 100 cycles since any dupe made a single vitamin. They produce lime constantly, such that I never have any egg shell lying about for a whole cycle. This sort of thing seems very common, and it's very aggravating. Anyone know any means of coercing dupes into actually using the stupid thing?
phod
There was a post recently about this very problem. Hope this helps. https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/98951-dupes-wont-use-apothecary-table/
Iriswaters
No. I saw that, that does not help. I know about setting dupes on jobs. As I said, I have 2 dupes banned from doing anything but operate, supply and store. They spend all their time supplying, and occasionally operating the rock crusher and NEVER make medicine. I know about the J button.
Zarquan
Is the apothecary supplied? Maybe you should set operate to very high and supply to high.
Iriswaters
And all of a sudden, one of my dupes starts making things. Not one of my operators mind. One of my miner/builders. O_o 1 minute ago, Zarquan said: Is the apothecary supplied? Maybe you should set operate to very high and supply to high. Again, it is priority 9 and the dupes have supply and operate maxed and no other jobs allowed. Dupe only made one. Will probably be another 100 cycles before another is made. I realize that, but if all supply jobs are higher in internal game priority for some reason (it shouldn't be because your apothecaries are priority 9), then making them operate the building at a higher priority than supplying it might fix the problem. Iriswaters
Ah, yeah. Ok, trying that. But it is a supply errand that is always the hang up. The apothecary is sitting next to boxes full of coal and flowers, but my dupes refuse to supply it with any coal.

Iriswaters
A little early, yeah. :/ Plus this is a problem EVERY game. I play on max settings, so medicine is vital to survival, and this is always an issue.
Zarquan
I found the bug. For some reason apothecary supply is under Storage.
PhailRaptor
Other random thought -- working the Apothecary could be under Care, instead of Operate. Did you try increasing the Priority of Care tasks?

I don't think so, my cook is the only one with care selecting and I have never seen him use the apothecary even when idle after finishing cooking

Iriswaters
Ok, think I figured it out. On some level, they have a Very Strong Preference for giving coal to coal generators. Such that if they are at or near the same priority, and there are any coal generators that aren't full of coal(even if they are set to not fill due to the grid being fully powered with them as back up) they won't supply any to the apothecary. Setting the coal generators to priority 5 did it.

Setting the coal generators to priority 5 did it. Still seems a little strange. The kiln also uses coal, I have my kiln set to 6 and several of my coal generators are set on 7 or 8, yet the kiln gets supplied rapidly when I set a recipe. I usually have to fight the dupes until I can get a sweeper set up to supply the generators.
Iriswaters
Hmm. Nope, didn't figure anything out. They are back to ignoring the apothecary.

Try putting Storage at very high priority instead of supply. For some reason, delivering coal and balm lily to the apothecary is a Storage task. Iriswaters
Storage? Hmm. That actually might be what's causing the issue. I tried to encourage them to make stuff by putting boxes next to the apothecary with high storage. But it ends up competing with the apothecary. I'll try that.
