ClarkOps
How can i get some steam for my rocket engine ? , it seems harder to get then petroleum or hydrogen. FierceClaws
Cool steam vent Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96918-how-to-get-steam-for-rocket-steam-engine/#findComment-1098419 Share on other sites
Ainsley4ever
Just heat up some water and pump the steam through insulated gas pipes. I advise you to boil polluted water with an aquatuner, so you can also cool other liquids down at the same time. SpecatularOmni
regolith in water ^_^. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96918-how-to-get-steam-for-rocket-steam-engine/#findComment-1098536 Share on other sites
Coolthulhu
Make sure to pipe it only through hot areas and with insulated pipes or you'll get broken pipes everywhere. Basically, make it on site. ClarkOps
Yeah even insulated ceramic seems too loose heat very quickly, so better to find a way to get it in gas container after rocket is full. And some automation valve to be sure you don't let steam inside a pipe to avoid broken pipe Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96918-how-to-get-steam-for-rocket-steam-engine/#findComment-1098871 Share on other sites
tzionut
Quote Yeah even insulated ceramic seems too loose heat very quickly, so better to find a way to get it in gas container after rocket is full. this was nice. I use isolated mafic rock pipe.... all in void. You lose temp first time until you heat the pipe.. then the heat stay same...The only impediment is when the steam is trapped in the pipe, it condense...and broke the pipe. I think you didn't understand the new rocket system, it's not petroleum or hydrogen, it's liquid oxygen (or oxylite) + petroleum or liquid hydrogen. So between just drop water on regolith, pump it with an steel pump and store it in a space gas reservoir, it's reaaaalllly easier than to make a LOX system. Correct this is for the other engines, For the steam engine you need only steam.. max 900kg for 18000 km (1 kg = 20 km). I play whit steam engine until now and its marvelous. You put steam between 96 and 110 degrees (my source is from cold steam vent), and when the rocket take off or land you receive steam at 1000 degrees...beautiful heat generation input....Whit a 975 degrees air pump you can send it straight to the steam turbine Free power from the rockets.
