How to use a ventilation system to cool your base properly?

I finally have more air than I need and all the AETN cooling godness at my hands. I decided to install central ventilation system for my poor dupes to make their life bearable, and encountered several issues:

1. It's tricky to get your air to the right temperature. I am using AETN radiator room but its really cumbersome and time consuming to find the exact ratio of pipes, which could then easily change due to water/room temp.. 

2. Distributing the air across a large dense base is even trickier. Introducing the air at the top and wait for it to seep down through the airflow tiles leads to cold high pressure area on top and low pressure area below with hot spots. I can use more vents  to spread the air among the floors, but then I'd have to use a lot of pipes and or valves (take space and decor -5) to keep it even.

any thoughts?

Dupes suck up a lot of oxygen and expel almost no CO2 so they create negative pressure. Placing vents near where dupes spend most time stationary will give the largest effect. You can also place it strategically so the oxygen passes something you want cooled on the way to where the dupes consume it but only to a minor extent.

You could consider cooling the gas at the base instead of having it come in cold, use a petroleum or hydrogen long ass self pumping pipe from the AETN to your base, have it split into several parts (one for each heat producing room) and control with a pipe temperature sensor when the current packets exceed your desired temperature, the hot packets will move on and introduce new cold packets that will cool down your base a few degrees.
The AETN room can be kept really cold if you use hydrogen, as hydrogen is after all just a gas and won't cool your base too dramatically and sudden. If you choose to use petroleum or oil then keep the AETN just a few degrees below your desired base temperature or the cooling loop will most likely turn your base into a popsicle every time it recirculates the warmed up liquid.
If you wish to anyways cool the oxygen instead, pass the output of the electrolyzer through a cooling loop of a room with 5 or so wheezeworts, make sure some of the wheezeworts are on top of doors and use either a temperature sensor in your base or pipe temperature sensors at the exit of the room to control the doors and make some of whezees stifle when the oxygen gets too cold.

I tend to do both in my bases. Use the wheezewort loops to precool the oxygen to a nice temperature and then cool off any heat producing rooms with my AETN giga-loop.

Ok, but how do make sure that each strategic location get enough air? Split the incoming air into several pipes and snake them to to each location?

I am not familiar with the petroleum solution, and I am not clear on last part about packets moving on.

Wouldn't that make the problem even worse? this way the first branch get top priority, and the last branch get least priority, meaning that last one will often get screwed.

I do something like this, but never forget, each cross divide the flow by 2 so you need to think before doing it (except in case of your oxygen production was huge), some gas tank reservoir could make a buffer to smooth your production

Depends on how you do it. In this example the last vent on the line has top priority.

valves take up space bridges dont but i prefer valves as i can tell it minimums and maximums. you can use valves for say 200 g/s max to this area next valve 300/gs and still have 500 flowing after that(from a full duct) it will still let excess past like bridges but wont try to take all of it unless you want it to

some areas dont need prioritization just maintenance the line feeding this structure is the first priority exo suits second the the excess just gets released into the base proper 654459CC3610CECCDC577EF90490F5CEB645A18F

If you want an even split, using gas bridges it is possible to evenly split a gas flow into four or eight different lines like so.

As for the examples of cooling I gave you, if you still want them in 7 hours I'll try and show you what i used on my bases, for sadly i'm on my lunch break now.

Here's one method I've used in the past.  The vents open up based on the temperature sensors (which are set at 18c) and spill water over the top of the system.  It is perhaps a little inefficient as I'm cooling ALL the gas, instead of only the gas that is being sent to the base, but it works.  The oxygen going into my base is generally pretty close to 18c.

The 'stair step' in the the polluted water reservoir was from an attempt to encourage more off-gassing.   It didn't work the way I wanted, but I never got around to destroying them.  This was also before the radiator pipes were introduced, which eliminates the need to "spill" the coolant out. In more recent builds, I've used a method like this:

The PW is from a slush geyser, but it could also be from whatever reservoir you're using for cooling.
