Conveyor Loader optimization

Recommended Posts

The conveyor loader consumes power each tick it is sending something, so I was wondering if there are any ways to make sure it doesn't waste power ending small amounts, kind of like how you use packet combiners to make sure your thermo regulators and aquatuners don't waste power cooling tiny packets.

In theory...yes.

Combine it with an automated compactor, and only if its full (you can set it to every amount you want), activate the loader via automation with set to higher priority. That way it would only be filled, if the compactor gives the go-signal. The other question is, would it be power-saving, or not, because compactors need power too..

In my Puft room, I have a clock set to run for about 5% of a cycle.  While the clock is on, the loader runs. Otherwise it just sits there quietly.  I found that otherwise the loader would run continually, putting slime in a container in minuscule amounts as the pufts dropped it on the floor.

Ahh, good idea. Then you just need some water on the floor to keep the slime from evaporating while it waits to be picked up.  And make sure that dupes can't reach the slime, but still need to be able to get in to groom.

Actually, my puft's room is kept at a pressure over 3kg/tile.  This prevents off-gassing and ensures that the pufts can fill up every time they breathe.

Is that just barely low enough to not pop the dupes eardrums?
