GuyNamedChris
Ahoy one and all! After almost 2 years of hard work building this mod from the ground up, started off by the very talented @Kzisor, we would like to present to you lovely lot our Shipwrecked port mod for Don't Starve Together: Island Adventures! Embark on a tropical journey across the seas, Together! Explore a vast new world with new biomes, seasons, and creatures. Island Adventures brings the seas of Don't Starve: Shipwrecked to Don't Starve Together. This mod is currently in a near complete state, with tons of bug fixes and content updates rolling out as they get completed. During development, we strive to have a faithful port of Shipwrecked, with the exception of some rebalances and content additions to integrate some of Together's new features in a nonintrusive way. So what does this mod include? Everything. Literally the entirety of the Shipwrecked DLC has been ported in this mod, with a few tweaks to accommodate a Together environment. Isn't that crazy? Attention to detail is important to us, so we like to see the smaller features sparkle and shine before moving on to new additions. We also have a GitLab for those who would like to test out our WIP features before they get pushed to the workshop! Check it out here: https://gitlab.com/IslandAdventures/IslandAdventures So what are all the additions and changes that we've made from the original? Here's a list taken from our Discord: Spoiler World Changes Spoiler World Regeneration affects various SW resources (including Bamboo, Vines, Biolum, Watery Graves, etc.) Bee Queen spawns on her own Meadow Island Klaus' Sack spawns during Dry Season (unlockable via Bone Key) Nightmare Werepig spawns in the Volcano Terrarium spawns with its own SW-themed Set Pieces Coral Den has been added to allow critter adoption in SW Volcano can be appeased with some DST items World Hopping via Seaworthy is available via Dedi Server Moonstorms affect SW if using a Dedi Server Seaworthy on Non-Dedi Servers will appear as a useless Malfunctioning Novelty Ride (Forest) Wolly + Flotsam spawn on the main continent (Forest) Palm Trees replace Birchnuts in the Oasis [Planned] Lunar Rifts can be summoned to SW via offering a Moon Rock Idol to the Altar of Snackrifice [Planned] Shadow Rifts can be summoned to SW via offering a Dreadstone to the Altar of Snackrifice Mechanic Changes Spoiler Poison doesn't affect certain DST mobs Drowning can be toggled between Fatal/Nonfatal via World Settings [Planned] Flooding fully waters + increases the stress of RWYS Farm Plots Character Compatibility Spoiler Wilson Has new Transmutations for various SW resources Wolfgang [Planned] Wolfgang can craft Limebells + Obsidian Dumbbells (Custom replacements for Marbells & Gembells) Wendy Can find Pipspooks near Wrecks WX-78 Can scan SW mobs to get all their circuits Wickerbottom Regains the Joy of Volcanology Can spawn Shoals with Angler's Guide Woodie Hardwood Hat protects against falling coconuts Wes Balloon Vest functions as a Life Jacket Is 4x more likely to get hit by falling Coconuts Maxwell Maxwell's Minions can be buffed with Volcanic items Wigfrid [Planned] Alternative Elding Spear Webber Can craft Tropical Switcherdoodles Winona Trusty Tape can repair boats for 50 hp Warly Regains his SW dishes (Mussel Bouillabaise, Sweet Potato Soufflé) Warly can cook Jellyfish Jelly and Rainbow Mousse (Since the ingredients for Chaud Froid and Glowberry Mousse don't exist in SW) Warly can get Salt for his seasoning via Trawling Wormwood Regains his Poison Balm Wurt Can craft, build on, and speed up on Tidal Marsh Turf Gains/loses sanity from holding SW Fish & fish related items Cannot die via drowning Can detect Flups Can craft Fishermerm Huts Doesn't lose speed on Flood tiles Is immune to Poison Walter Can bring Woby onto SW Water via life rafts Can use Coconuts as Slingshot Ammo Can craft Limestone Rounds, Sludge Rounds, and Obsidian Rounds (Custom replacements for Marbles, Slow Rounds, and Cursed Rounds) Wanda Wanda cannot warp onto SW Water from land Wilbur Immune to the Moon Quay curse Neutral to Moon Quay Pirates Is affected by Syrup of Ipecaca Woodlegs Doesn't lose sanity on DST Boats Misc. Mobbstar
Hello all! When Island Adventures started four years ago, we couldn't imagine it becoming such a big and long-lasting project. Many people have come and/or left the crew and many breakthroughs and miracles have been performed. The mod has come a long way. However, in recent times, there have been mounting problems we are not equipped to deal with. Most notably, Don't Starve Together itself has grown and changed much. The overlap of DST and SW content comes not only with technicalities, but also increasingly complicated bugs, and big gameplay issues. Therefore, we have decided to forfeit Maxwell's tropical paradise to Queen Charlie, and let her form a different kind of island adventure. More specifically, we will not finish missing or incomplete content (such as treasure hunt, volcano, quacken, &c.) nor patch bugs that occur with new game updates. However, the Steam Workshop page and the GitLab repository (including the entire development history), will remain online and public, for posterity. Heroic strangers may use this to continue developing and send a "Pull Request" to get their solutions applied to Steam Workshop. If a part of Island Adventures seems useful for a different mod (e.g. the climate transition code), we'd gladly let the other mod take it. However, we insist the mod's Steam Workshop page mentions this, for the purpose of avoiding misunderstandings. Also, feel free to consult us about that. We may be able to provide context and code explanations to help incorporate it. Thank you for the fun years! -the Island Adventures devs 4
wigfrids hat
well, is there any chance of getting the turfs and the sea parsed out and made into their own thing so we can at least pretend?
GuyNamedChris
I'm gonna try and use this thread more! Hopefully keeping it open as another avenue of communication for you beautiful lot on the forums. We're always receptive to feedback on features and what we can do to improve the experience. I also went ahead and added a new list to the original post of all the changes we've made from SW. With that said, we just released a massive update with 0.12.0, Uncharted Waters! Some highlights include: The 10th Anniversary Update from Singleplayer SW SW Water now acts like DST Water mechanically (It's more of a backend change, but it now allows us to add features such as...) DST Boats and Dock Kits can now be placed on SW Water The Coral Den has been added, allowing players to adopt critters in SW Worlds Wilson has new SW-focused Transmutation options Nightmare Werepig can now be found in the Volcano (This one requires the most explanation, we want to incorporate the Rifts into SW when Klei's current content cycle ends, this is sort of a precursor to that. Also, it spawns where Caged Woodlegs normally would and can be broken apart with Obsidian Coconades, I just find that neat) All SW Bosses now drop unique Figure Sketches (Thanks for the art, Tin Can) Skins have been added through the use of the Modded Skins API (The first batch includes beta versions of the Dumbrella and Particulate Purifier, and a Cawnival Palm Hut courtesy of Tin Can) This is nowhere close to the full changelog, for that please check it out on the workshop or our Discord. GuyNamedChris
Ahoy y'all! I have updated the additions + changes spoiler in the main post. On top of that, we have some pretty big stuff planned soon that I'd love to share with you all! Here's a quick changelog of what to look forward to: GemCore has been dropped as a dependency (All features that IA has previously depended on have since been added to DST. The only thing we still used were multiple recipes. Recipe changes will now be decided by world) Island Adventures - Shipwrecked will have a new dependency in the form of "IA-Core" (To house all the shared resources and code between Shipwrecked and Hamlet) Shipwrecked and Volcano will now finally be counted as their own separate world (Previously, both were frankensteined versions of the Forest) SW Seasons will now also be counted as their own thing (As with world, they were heavily jury-rigged versions of the RoG seasons) A new World Select button will be available in the world creation screen for you to choose what world you want on each shard (This will allow much more official world customization outside of being stuck to Forest/Caves or Islands/Volcano. Now you can have Forest/Islands worlds connected via Seaworthy if you want! Or get chaotic and have a Caves/Volcano world) If you didn't gleam from the changelog, this does also mean that we're gearing up to tackle a proper Hamlet port in the future. Hopefully within the next few months! We already have a good framework with functional worldgen, mobs, and items. (Huge props to Hornet) That's about it for now, hope to keep y'all updated soon!
