Cheapest way to BBQ

Recommended Posts

Considering 2kg meat = 3200kcal = 4000 kcal bbq. Wild pinchas used. Ignoring incubation Time, balances out to insignificant over long term.

So.. For 1 bbq/cycle:

Drecko: 2 balm lily, 2kg meat/egg, 1 egg/9cycle. = 1,1 full ranches, 9 dreckos, 18 balm lilys. Free food, but long setup.

Glossy drecko: 3 mealwood (is it really that much tho?). 1,1 full ranches, 9 gdreckos, 27 mealwood. 270kg dirt/cycle, produces a bit under 450kg plastic/cycle. So, 270kg dirt.

Stone hatch: 140kg igneous, 2kg meat/egg, 1egg/6 cycle = 0,8 ranches, 6 hatches, 840kg igneous rock/cycle.

Hatch: 140kg Clay. Clay comes from deodorizer.. input infinite regolith, polluted oxygen. If we consider Po = O, then 143g of Clay costs 10g oxygen, but transforms 100g Po.. so: 0,8 ranches, 6 Hatch, 587kg Po transformed, 58,7kg Oxygen lost for one barbeque/cycle.

Pufts: 30kg Po, 1kg meat/egg, 1egg/4,5cycle, 1,5 ranches, 9 pufts, 270kg Po/cycle. By produces 135kg/slime, feeds 33,75 dusk caps For an extra 12600 kcal. Or If you let slime offgas, then 135kg Po.

Dense pufts: with offgassing, 1,5kg O2, 1,5 ranches, 9 pufts, 13,5kg O for 1 bbq.

Squeeky: 1.5 ranches, 45kg chlorine with offgassing.

Pacu: get More kcal from omeletts. 140kg algae/cycle, 2 eggs/3 cycle, 0,71egg for 4kg omeletts. 1,07 pacu, 150kg algae/cycle for 4k kcal.

Slicksters: 20kg co2, 1egg/6cycle, 6 slickster, 0.8 ranches, 120kg co2.

im a plastic drecco with sage hatches eating the left over meal. using wild pincha and a couple plots eating the excess pwater from my washroom  loop (although this now requires a heat source with the sieve change)

think overall plastic dreco route is cheepest as you get plastic as a bonus gift saving all sorts of heat and power

I personally use the balm lilly setup, as once it gets going, its free food.

And you can automate the butchering with a drowning pool ranch.

Doesn't look like it's working in RU anymore :| The dreckos are able to flee before drowning. Might have to flood the room up to the ceiling now, or put the critter dropoff on a lone tile and flood it on all sides (killing with creativity™).

I have a full room drowner, with 20C oil so slicksters freeze.

So flood the whole room then.. that's no biggie, just add some gas tiles at the top to hold the air that is in the room, and put a mechanical door on the entry point, and lock it when the room gets flooded so nobody opens the door by accident while the water is busy drowning drecko's.

Here's a quick setup I made in debug, should be easy to build in survival too. The switch of course would be a timer normally, which is hooked up to a NOT gate, then to the 4 layers of doors and the entry door. The  3 upmost door layers have a buffer gate, with 1, 2 and 3 second delay for activating on them respectively, so the water gets pushed up instead of deleted, and the entry door has a filter gate on it with 10 second delay, so when the doors reopen, to let the water down, the entry door remains closed until the water has dropped into the door basin again, and won't spill out. When the water begins to rise, the door is of course immediately locked so nobody can get in or out. The mesh door next to it is to ensure that any drecko's that get put in don't escape before being butchered by the system.

The airflow tiles allow for the air in the butchery to be pushed up by the water, so it doesn't interfere with flooding the room.

I went with a simpler design, but I don't like the fact they're making the automatic ranching harder when it already needs some love.

Also the critters now take a lot longer to drown, around 15% on the timer.

Freezing slicksters to death gets my vote for creativity though :p

You can do better whit 5 kg of algae for 5 cycle - 2 eggs... see the fishomatic setup.. but you will treat your pacu terrible

Yes, but Im not talking about exploitative mechanics. We can starve all our ranches, and do better per resource.
