Alfons100
There needs to be more Specialist jobs to do unique things other duplicants don't. To give more value to the Jobs system. Thats why I got an idea to add a new Job, that has its own small but rather linear tree. Musician, and Smooth Musician. These add a bit of Creativity when mastered, but the specialist-work they do is not affected by Creativity. Musician is a high tier job, and Smooth Musician is the highest tier, same as Exosuit engineer. People who are/mastered this job, can operate a new building unlocked from Decorative Expression, its a small stand with a Guitar on it, counts as a 'Recreational Building', 3 tiles in width, 2 in height. An automation Input which enables/disables use of it. It requires a bit of power to run (480W) and of course the Job specialist, but another requirement is that it needs more than 1 people in the same room as it. So its relatively cheap, aside from the high-tiered job. The duplicant will go onto the stand to play on the guitar that takes the same time as, say, dancing at a Jukebot. When done, it will give +2 Morale to 2 people in the room, after that, they will continue playing to give morale to another 2 people, until everyone in the room has achieved the bonus. After that they will stop and do other stuff until a new Duplicant enters the room. The Morale bonus lasts 1 day. Please mind that they won't get the Morale bonus themselves unless there is another Musician playing. Of course, Skilled Musician will increase the speed they apply the Morale buff. The Creativity skill gain is just flavor and won't affect using the Guitar Stand. I think this'd be balanced because this means that you have to assign someone to a custom schedule to play music while the other people are on Leisure time. But this guy also won't get the bonus because they're the one playing it, and its a high tier job alternative to Exosuit engineer which we currently lack. Sasza22
It should be a DJ job. His hat would be headphones. He could get a beatboxing trait that would pasively grant +1 morale to other dupes on downtime in the room. When dancing near a jukebot he will opearate the bot giving extra morale to dancing dupes. It would be intersting as you`d want that dupe to be on downtime with as many other dupes as possible. Or maybe he could do that in hos work time so that he doesn`t get the benefit until he has his own downtime. ImpalerWrG
Music now exists in the form of the JuteBot, so it makes more sense for me to have a Musician enable or improve the JuteBot. Say the Musician needs to 'charge' it with original music or even operate it. Also Musician should obviously branch off of the Artist jobs, but I think that's what you intended but just did not say. Creativity should definitely determine the speed that the musician works at, that's how it works for painting and sculpting so it needs to be consistent. NGMZero
i am curious, what would happen if all the dupes master this music job? Downtime will be a funny party every time . I don`t think the effects should stack. One dupe will do the jukebot operation and others will enjoy. Gwido
Maybe not a musician job, but a radio animator. And the job could need to install a radio room and spread speakers around the base, with, for each, an area of effect. PS : great fan art ! goboking
Does the Musician really need to be its own job? Musicians are artists too, so why not just make music a function of the highest tier for artists?
