A rare delicacy I am sure you will agree but every time they finish an omelette they make the same gagging face and stick out their tongue like they do when they eat meal lice, ingrates. Previously omelette used to be yummy, why is is icky now? edit: one M in omelette, but two eggs... frogglebunwich Posted August 12, 2018 Author Share Posted August 12, 2018 At 99%-100% fresh its not stale, its been stored in a CO2 pantry and shows completely fresh but some did have a few surface germs and after composting these the gagging reduced a lot, So thanks for the tip. Its a problem because the base is supported by a polluted water geyser and everything which comes from it is riddled with food poisoning. The "purified" water is heaving and the oxygen made from that by an electrolyser is also full of germs. Morale is good because of the decor and accommodations, but I just wish there was a device to sterilise water or gas. Like for aquariums, which I keep, you can get a UV steriliser, which blasts the bugs with UV light and kills them as they pass through. As for food poisoning germs they die almost instantly in gas so it shoudln`t be much of a problem. If you ant to get rid of it from the water the easiest way is to heat it up to 75oC. I used to do that in my previous bases but it tends to be problematic when your base gets too hot. Now i just separate the germy water and use it for cooling and plants, meanwhile the clean water is taken from cool steam vents cooled by aquatuners or radiant pipes in ice biomes. Sasza22 Posted August 12, 2018 Share Posted August 12, 2018 It takes 1 germ on the food for them to do that expression. Their taste is supersensitive when it comes to germs. I think it should be changed to an amount that could reduce their immunity by 1% so they actually show some useful info with it. They are still sometimes pulling faces even with absolutely zero germs on the food, unless they pick up germs during transport, as the ladder to the dining room is beneath an oxygen outlet with germs spewing out of it. Some of them regard omelettes as satisfactory food in their bubbles, one guy chose to eat meal lice instead. One guy always seems to pull a face. No rhyme or reason that I can fathom. Maybe they have idiosyncratic preferences, each individual having different food preferences rather than a universal scale of appreciation?
