Geschinta
Currently a big issue with my drecko farms. Dupe ranchers have to spend a lot of time (at least once a cycle) wrangling dreckos that have just crawled out the door while a dupe was running by. Maybe there could be an adjustment so that a door must be set to open for them to walk out? I haven't been able to make any design that prevents them from escaping so often. Yannick Vachon
From what I saw, they hate walking on water tile so you could add to your entrance a water lock. Of course, it means either using a exosuit or a soaking wet debuff on your stress but at least, you will keep the drecko inside. SharraShimada
Simple solution. Build a gap from entrance to the area, holding the animals. | Door X Tiles Z animal area XXXXXXXXXXXX | X X ZZZZZZZ X X XXXXXXXXXX Dupes will jump over the gap, but dreckos will always stay on the Z-Tiles, and wander around. You can use the Z-tiles as farmplots, fo feed them. Unfortunately if they remain there and I put their food there, I can't have hydrogen for them to regrow their scales in because it would stop plant growth. Also having a door at the top allows hydrogen out into the rest of the base. And drecko can jump 1 tile gaps like dupes can, does having the door there stop them from jumping across? Pincha pepper plant can grow in hydrogen, for as long as it is hot enough. People use mealwood because it is easier but you can use balm lilies in chlorine or pincha instead. Dreckos are always able to enter my pincha farms, even when I do my best to keep them out Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/94262-an-easier-way-to-keep-critters-from-escaping-rooms/#findComment-1071540 Share on other sites
SharraShimada
Either use pincha or lily. Or use gassensors to stop pumping in gas at a certain point, and find the balance with other gas for the plants. The tools are there. We just have to use them. And yes Doors stop them, because doors wont open for them. As long as the doors are closed, nothing happens. And they hate ladders it seems. If you want to play save for sure, enter the room from the top. Sasza22
Dreckos can`t escape through normal pneumatic doors. It never happened to me. They only escape if you use manual airlocks or unpowered automatic airlocks. They close slower giving the drecko time to escape. Make sure you use normal doors and they won`t get away. One scenario i can think of when they escape through normal doors is if you put something that needs resources delivered exactly 2 tiles from the door so a dupe delivering will stand in the door a second longer (maybe mealwood growing there is the problem). Although wild ones definitely make their way into my pincha farms. 46 minutes ago, Sasza22 said: Dreckos can`t escape through normal pneumatic doors. It never happened to me. Thanks for the tip, I was indeed using an airlock door for my drecko ranches so I could balance gas pressure more easily. Will switch to a powered airlock, although having my plants near the door is probably a confounding issue as well. lurkinglurker
For hatches (and morbs, etc), build the entry door four tiles above the hatch floor. Don't forget air tiles at the ground floor as ventilation... For Dreckkos, build the "Drek pit" as a floating platform of plants/stations/etc, accessible only via a 3 tile long climb/jump gap (use ladders). And if any eggs fall, either cook them, pick them up into a storage in the main pit, or have an easy-escape doorway leading right into a "Zero critters, auto-wrangle" dropoff point. For flying critters... well, you're on your own.
