Craigjw
I've stopped using the automation signal switch, instead I'm using Atmo or Hydro sensors, they cost the same and are instant. I feel that the signal switch would be much more useful if it had some benefit over a power switch. martosss
I agree with you, I also use atmo switches for instant on/off actions on pumps and shutoffs instead of valves. It works great instead of enable/disable building by a dupe. Lilalaunekuh
Signal switches are a bit useless right now, there worse in every aspect than an atmo/hydro/temp sensor. (Don´t get me wrong, I like our instant sensors to tinker with some more complex builds without dupe interaction. Just give the signal switch at least some use case) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93840-signal-switches/#findComment-1067191 Share on other sites
Sasza22
Only way to amke the switch usable is to make hydro/temp sensors manually tunable like the valves so pretty much nerfing them to the point it requires a dupe to set them. Might be the way the devs go when the game is released so enjoy the instant switches while you can. The problem with this is that then you can't adjust the sensor's anymore when they're walled up, meaning that they have to remain accessible by dupes, which often defeats their purpose. The only way I can see something like this working is if there is some means to use adjust them by remote. You mean, apart from making them instant like the amto/hydro/temp sensor, which would also make them useful. A lot of devs have a tendency to nerf things, the anti-nerf in this case would be much more favourable and wouldn't infuriate gamers by making there builds unusable by having inaccessible sensors. Sevio
Actually the atmo/thermo/hydro sensors aren't instant, they do take a little bit of ingame time to switch. The plain automation switch could stand out here by actually changing its signal instantly when the player toggles it, or at least as quickly as the simulation allows. It could be made more convenient if you could toggle it directly with a left or right click without having to go through the info panel. In the context of this discussion, by instant I mean, when I change the value, the devices registers it with little or no perceptible delay. Changing a switch with a left or right click might mean that I accidentally change a switch when I scroll the screen with the LMB. Let´s increase the delay of atmo/thermo and hydro sensors even further (maybe 1-10s) and make the signal switch instant Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93840-signal-switches/#findComment-1067542 Share on other sites
Sevio
I'd rather not nerf the sensors, they're already slow enough as is. I would just make the signal switch instantly controllable by the player, with a more comfortable UI to toggle it.
