One of the ways to make water used to be steam generation, such as the battery method with dripping polluted water slowly onto batteries in an insulated environment. It seems the game makers have patched these "exploits." My suggestion: just make it EASY to make steam so that it can be made into clean water again. Or increase the liquid tepidizer to upper limit of 125 C instead of 85 C. With regolith they even added a renewable filtration medium, but even without it there's really no way to run out of sand, you have more of it available than you could ever realistically use up. And with regolith, you may as well use it since god knows you have to do something with it. Who needs to do all that muss and fuss boiling of PH2O anymore, when regolith will filter for you, and you just compost the polluted dirt it outputs for regular dirt? Hell, you can automate everything except the actual flipping of compost, and that isn't very difficult to get dupes to do. I think I was freaking out about the loss of water and wanted to maximize the use of polluted water in an infinite way, but the videos for tips and tricks were made before the updates. I definitely have noticed I now seem to have more filter than ever before without really trying, and the filter has let me live on for a long time.
