Feedback/Opinion

Each update I go to start a new game and just can't bring myself to play because I waste so much time shuffling to get 3 duplicants I want. Ever since the job update was released it seems much harder to get the desired duplicant. In my opinion it's way to random, the duplicant can have 0-3 interests and chances are they won't have attributes that match their interests.

Sure I could just start the game and deal with what I get, but I can't. Sorry, I give up.

Don't give up. Imho the starting dupes are not so important. The only deal breaker for me is flatulent, noodle arms. Anemic. Maybe another one I can't remember. But the skills develope anyway interest or not...

Maybe take a break for a couple of weeks to clear your mind. Next update will come for sure!:wilson_laugh:

I just wish there was a less time consuming way to pick the 3 starting dupes I want. I'm tired of wasting time shuffling through terrible duplicants. It was so much easier to get what you wanted when the game first came out, and much harder since the "jobs" update.

It may be that you are being too strict in you rstarting requirements.  Personally I can accept noodle arms now because thats patched by g-keeper/ courier jobs.  As long as you are not choosing horribly deficient dupes the rng has had only about a 15 cycle difference in speed getting to finished research(fastest just under 50, average about 65 without cherry picking dupes)
TLDR: rerolling starting dupes is only necessary if playing harder modes, or they are mouth breathers(double air, no no no)

I wouldn't mind a sort of point buy system for abilities and traits, rather than having to keep refreshing.

Like the system in Dwarf Fortress? For anyone who hasn't played it, you can choose up to 10 skill points for each starting dwarf, with increasing costs as you buff one skill. I would gladly just start with 3 dupes with 10 learning and nothing else.

Learning is almost too good.. I wonder if the devs are thinking about removing it as a skill and lower research times across the board to compensate.
