Staying on an upgrade release?

Recommended Posts

So the occupational upgrade is due out in a week. Currently,  imo, it is poorly balanced,  needlessly restrictive,  limits creativity, and is generally NOT FUN.

Now,  I am certain that Klei will eventually get things worked out (Or they won't and I'll just have to move on to a different game).

However, in the meanwhile,  is there any way to not take the upgrade when it comes out next week? Turning off Steam updates or something?

Even if I didn't have issues with the OU, I would still like to take my current base to it's completion or failure...

The steam updates can't really be turned off, but this might work (haven't tested)

Step 1: Right click ONI in your steam library -> properties -> updates -> under automatic updates, choose "only update this game when I launch it"

Step 2: Turn off your internet or use offline mode before launching ONI whenever you want to play it, preventing steam from getting the update

Edit: typo

Saturn's, thanks.  That is just what I was looking for.

Donutman, I realize that. Like i said,  i fully expect that I will eventually enjoy the UO as much as I enjoy the current version. I was just looking for a way to wait until I was ready to take it. My current base is designed in a waythat will be completely non- viable under the UO changes but I'd like to run it to completion before starting a new one.  Thanks for the reassurance though.

Every patch there's comments like this, but they die done once it gets released. I wouldn't worry

There sure is, but I am not playing the update just testing out things in debug mode. Of all updates this one is the most broken. Usually I enjoy to star a new colony with the new update but with this how broken it is just dont feel doing it.

There can be several reasons for wanting to stay on a particular upgrade, or run an old save with it's relevant game version.
