Sewage, making it clean

Recommended Posts

So, a problem is sewage. You start, then when you get water faciltes that makes dirty water, and full of food poisoning. distillers make it clean, but not germ free, and then it get into the main water supply, and everyone gets sick, throws up, and then get hypothermia. So the question is can we make a sewage processing facilty in 24 by 18 that makes greemfree water. And you could use gisers, but where do you put the dirty water then? pleas help.

I think there are some simple ways how to destroy toilet water and some more professional.

Simple way I am using now is to use that polluted water in enclosed fertilizer makers. They will make food poisoned fertilizer and natural gas.

But when you have enough power with something like this (https://i.imgur.com/bh8LZrB.png) or from petroleum you can try to clean it by heat.

I am now going to build this system:

It needs about 5 cycles to heat 5000kg of polluted water to 75+ Celsius and needs 1.44kW during those 5 cycles but I will use it to cool down my water that I use to cool batteries and metal refinery. First water sensor waits until there is enough infected water then opens doors for some time to drop it down. Then second water sensor starts aquatuner and later after about 5 cycles temperature sensor opens doors and drop disinfected polluted water down. (walls around aquatuner from abysalit)

Also while testing it now I noticed that from enough food poisoned polluted water some polluted oxygen with slimelung can start spawning...

The most conventional way to clean germs out of water is to use the water for cooling purposes, such as bzgzd's Thermo Aquatuner method, or simply as input into a Metal Refinery.

If you have no qualms with running Outhouses and Wash Basins indefinitely, put a few Hatches in your bathroom area and they'll eat the contaminated dirt AND water, leaving clean Coal behind for you.

If you isolate germy pools of water and leave them be without adding more dirty water, the germs will eventually die off on their own. it'll take a while, but they can't reproduce in blue water.

What I do is loop the water back around with a Water Sieve(used to be called Distiller) and they barely get Food Poisoning, if at all; you want a small tank for your polluted water to loop around. Pump the excess polluted water into Fertilizer Sythesizers to offset the extra pee that comes out. If you have Duplicants in exosuits 24/7 they rarely use the bathrooms anymore so you don't have to deal with the excess polluted water.

I've had this pool going since the beginning of the game; I'm on cycle 482 now. I've blocked out pipes that weren't part of the loop:

Not sure if it's an actual exploit or not, but if you use a bunch of space heaters in a chamber and put some chlorine in there, the space heaters will be able to heat the water enough to kill off all the germs (this is because chlorine is terrible at keeping temperature, if you allow it to thermally conduct it rapidly cools down, causing the space heater to not turn off cause surrounded gases aren't that hot yet), then with automation you can have it drop down to a "germ-free" tank which then pumps it back into your clean water reservoir.

The automation is pretty much a clock sensor at the start of the day from 0-5 or so that allows distilled water to enter the heating chamber, inside the heating chamber I put 4 space heaters, a temperature sensor and 2 clock sensors along with the space heaters of course.

Clock sensor 1 is set to 0-5 to let distilled water into the heating chamber. Clock sensor 2 is set to 100-65, making it so it turns on right before the distilled water gets through, turning off around the time the water should be completely germ-free. Temperature sensor checks if the water isn't 80c and sends a signal.

Clock sensor 2 + the temperature sensor's output go into an AND gate and the output of the AND gate goes the space heaters.

If you make the flooring out of mechanized airlocks then the water also gets dumped at the right time.

What's the size of the tank, got any pics?

The simplest solution is to separate your bathroom water system from your food water system. What I do is just recycle my polluted water through my bathroom system. The germs don't matter for showers, since Dupes aren't ingesting the water.

Only problem is that you're going to be adding water to your closed system every time your dupes use the bathroom (I don't think I need to explain why that's the case) Eventually you're going to have to deal with the germy water some other way.

It isn't a problem at all. I've made a 10x10 polluted water reservoir for 6 dupes and it takes 350-400 cycles to fill it. By that time you should have your Pincha Pepper farm and Fertilizers up and running. They will drain your polluted water way faster than those Dupes can produce polluted water. I've had my polluted water reservoir almost full and within 50 cycles it was empty.

As for polluted oxygen just put Deodorizers on a liquid mesh tile. I also placed storage in there for Slime and never had any problems.

Here's my base's water systems. Every Dupes has their only bathroom where they all take a morning shower immediately after they way up. I'm still working on the Pincha Pepper farm experimenting with using Batteries instead of Heaters. The reason the Polluted Water is so high is that I had to pump the Polluted Water over my Pincha Pepper/Battery room to be able to finish it. If I hadn't it would only be about half full and I'm around 385 Cycles in.

Another thing you can do is place Storage containers in Polluted Water and fill them with Bleach Stone. I admit I haven't tried it, but it sounds like it should work. If there's no change empty the Storage, so the Bleach Stone is in direct contact with the germs. You won't have any problem with Chlorine gases with the Bleach Stone submerged.
