0_t3
Under the debug,I turned the crude oil by raising the temperature of the oil,but why did the temperature drop after the crude oil became oil?Is not the temperature of the petroleum higher? Saturnus
My guess is that it loses heat due to phase change as it's really the same thing from a game mechanics point of view.

Plus once it becomes petroleum it can't cool down back to crude oil.
Whispershade
I haven't looked, but does petroleum have greater heat capacity?
Coolthulhu
It does - by less than 10%. I don't think the game accounts for specific heat change during phase change, though.

Getting it to "flicker" could be a handy way to dump any arbitrary amount of heat.

"As you'd expect" has no meaning when the game already ignores the law of physics way harder than this - by ignoring specific heat change.

Geez. People are getting pedantic today. You'd expect the phase change to absorb or release heat as in the real world. The game seems to do this. Ignoring specific heat at phase change is a relatively minor issue compared to some of the other problems with the in-game physics. However, it's not, and is not supposed to be, a physics simulator as has been established conclusively. For one thing, there's a printing pod that prints living creatures. I'm not sure it can get any less realistic than that.

Actually saying things exactly instead of using mental shortcuts is important when discussing things that are ambiguous and are in context of a game with simplified physics, known to have physics bugs and exploits. It means that things are much less obvious than with real life physics - there is no one obvious way of simplifying physics.
Botaxalim
So the convert 1:1? Maybe lose some mass so temp drop a bit
CfSapper
No mass lose that I noticed when i was playing with it. Was a perfect 1:1 change
