Noob needing help!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I did play ONI when it was first released and than a bit more with the Thermal Update but not for much. I just reached cycle 100 and than stoped till this Early access who changed a lot of things and added a lot of content.

With this introduction i want to state that i'm still a beginner and not the science guy at all, so in the eyes of you i might be a complete moron with my questions so i hope the sensitive will not get too tilted with the stupidity that might show up ;)

Questions:

1- Is the Coal Generator good again ? When Thermal Update came out, i either had to force plant the "Cold Plant" by doing the shenanigan of putting the seed in a chest than destroying a chest so it would grow there or making water constantly drop on the generator while having it all build in the Cold Biome. Is this all needed now or just being in the cold biome and have on Cold Plant on the vase will be enough for it to work ? (screenshot will help me understand better the concepts)

2- Farms: I still haven't been able to grow the Wheat so and overview of this would be appreciated.
2.1 Best concept for Mealwood and Why.
2.2 Best concept for Bristle Blossom and Why.
2.3 Best concept for Wheat and Why.
2.4 Best concept for "The Upsidedown Plant" and Why.
(screenshot will help me understand better the concepts)

3 - Also whenever i play and i start to get my base big i just find myself doing generators in each side of the base so they don't overload, instead of having everything connected everywhere. This is because i have no idea how to work with switches, the heavy cabbles and the new additions now to the power circuits. An overall explanation and screenshots of circuit setups would be very much appreciated.

4 - Gas Valve / Liquid Valve / Liquid Filter - I never found a use for this ones in my games. I have no idea where to apply them and what they would be good for. An overall explanation and screenshots of circuit setups would be very much appreciated

I think for now this is my main questions within the game, thank you so very much for reading and thanks in advance for those who will help me out. Appreciated.

Best Regards,

Glermz

Wheezewort can be grown in a vase. Literally all of your questions can be answered by playing the game and reading the patch notes. I'm not here so you can be lazy...

I know that already, that was not the question. Maybe by playing the game a lot and fail and restart might do it yes, but definitely reading everything in game for me is not enough. Also you might not want to help for whatever reason you think off, but i'm sure there is people here willing to help.

In DS & DST  i helped a lot of people achiving endgame more quickly by giving guides, tips so they didn't had to died and restart to learn things the hard way. It's called "passing the knowledge". No need to act like everyone who asks for help and more insight are lazy just because you did everything the hard way.

Peace,

I'm all for helping people who need it. To me it just looks like you're being lazy when you could... you know... play the game. Sounds like you haven't even bothered trying a single thing.

That's your point of view. If you don't want to add anything don't even bother replying to a topic you are not a fan off. I can also say that looks like you are a Smarty Pants, but why bother ?

although the Wheezewart works in a pinch its output isn't that great and to keep the temps of all of the power supply just not enough to cover the task by themselves. you don't need to drip the water on them any more but pumping small(less than 100-1000g/s)amounts past them in sandstone<granite<wolfram respectively (these are you most effective thermal transfer materials without refinement) will do the job nicely.

Valves are infinitely handy for controlling output most machines will over heat from constant use and the use of valves can control these over usages preventing over heating and damage to your systems. in this shot I'm pumping to the cooling area for batteries and generators with a valve set to 1000g/s and unmolested to 4 fertilizer makers. the power usage of the pump is limited to what it can pump out limiting its usage to once every few seconds just to keep the line full. I also have a valve set up at the end of the cooling line that used to prevent the incoming p water coming from showers and washrooms now the 1000g/s feed splits at that point and will split them till the line to the water purifier is full then it will stop splitting and continue its out flow.

the pipes work on a track style system and the valves depending  on how they are placed on the line can alter how the lines function. Placed directly on the line the valve will take what its set to before letting any remaining amount past it. and if placed on an off shoot line it will form a reservoir and let out a stream of the setting on the valve(flow permitting)3ABF3866888F3FC283234253EF6CF3565EA27842the pipes themselves don't have a directional orientation and can loose orientation after an intersection. the odd extra valve on a larger system although seemingly excessive will actually prevent directional issues with larger piping and venting system that the AG upgrade is kind of intensive on.

Coal is always emergency power source, since it use a lot of coal and it's not so easy to get more. (You need hatch to produce more)
After agricultural upgrade, natural gas is the ultimate power source. You just need to handle the CO2 output and with the contaminated water produced by it you feed hydroponic farm. Two Natural Gas Generator supplies 9 hydroponic (meal wood plant).

3 - This is how I manage circuits in this update. A vertical heavy wire with horizontal wires.

Thanks in advance for you response. Its really helpful. Descriptions are clear to a point, but raise questions when putting to practice and this solves the questioning problem. Thank you for that. Glad to see not everyone is as close minded to give help ;) . Big thumbs up.

Here is a easy set up for a Meal wood grow room. you have CO2 in the grow room. Walls made of abyssalite, the pipes in the grow room were hydroponic farm tiles is made of abyssalite. The plants in the room will normalize to perfect temp. Remember to sweep the room of all the material. Mealwood grow room
