Cool puzzle, Klei! I really enjoyed it.

Recommended Posts

This is the first time I've participated in a puzzle, and it was a lot of fun. Now I understand why everyone was so excited that a puzzle was starting! I really enjoyed poring over the community Google spreadsheet, trying to figure out the numbering system (which I still don't get, but that's okay). I thought it was really cool that the puzzle required a friend. I really appreciate all the thought and planning that went into this, and I look forward to the next one!

No mention of the several day watch-the-useless-wall period.

Or the bash-your-skull-against-the-monitor-in-sync-with-a-stranger-to-light-up-all-the-dots torture run.

Or the numerous progress breaking glitches.

Or the final progress breaking glitch that locked most people out of experiencing the special video and background for themselves.

But, the ACTUAL PUZZLE; with decoding the symbols and putting the items in the box. That was cool yes.

If only Klei just did that from the damn start.

See, this attitude is why nobody likes you.

Of all the ARG's I've witnessed or taken part of, this has definitely been one of the more enjoyable ones to figure out. I had a bug set me back when we were all still freshly figuring out what came after part two, which wasn't ideal since I didn't get to figure out part 3 on my own. But nothing a quick redo of part two couldn't fix. It happens, code breaks. If you play video games you know about it.

Part two even has leeway where Klei give you two 1-notch squares in every soluton, which after processing all the community submitted puzzles told us can only be a certain set of symbols + the staff. Made part two much easier after.

The rest of the puzzle was genuinely well played by Klei, it was great. Counting the entries to rule out the red herring symbols (cut down to 13 runes , 13 notch blocks). Having posts ninja-edited to show the hint of the minions (which ended up being 13), the hints for the food, the math people did, and then redid, and then redid lol.

This puzzle required a partner and the work of the entire community, and best of all, there wasn't a timer leading to another timer at the end of it.
Props to Klei for this one, Prizes + a nice set of lore drops + a bonus hint at the end of the puzzle.

For me, this puzzle might be my least favorite. Not bad by any means. Just slightly annoying at times. Cyclum had me foaming at the mouth for more, this... just irked me. That's just me however.

Cyclum was an actual puzzle. This one only became a puzzle after a several day wait and a massive hoop jumping festival.

After all that, then it became a puzzle of decoding the symbols and entering stuff into the box.

Cyclum also had us wait days between each action we did, so it was hard to tell if we actually did the right thing or not outside of waiting a whole day. Wherein Metheus was just wait for the puzzle to load, and bang, hop straight in, it could of been completed from the start.

And from a technical standpoint, Metheus is 10x cooler. Hats off to Klei for designing that website, it was really beautifully made and put together. Sadly there were a few bugs, I personally had no issue, but stuff like that happens when a website gets swarmed by a buncha people trying to get their skins. Also, just because people were doing the puzzle incorrectly doesnt mean it was broke :>

I wish I was around for that one, the Cyclum is a crowd pleaser puzzle, super accessible story-comic puzzle, with mostly "hide and seek" elements to it. Klei seem to do well with their puzzles.
