And I got 2 more words for you: Morning star!

I always considered thee morning star to be rather situational and I usually only use it to butcher the Goose/Goose in spring, but I have to ask, does the damage bonus of the morning star come from it being wet or it's target being wet? Because now that I think about it.. with the balloons..

It comes from it's target being wet. That's why I was asking. Because if the toadstool can get wet by using balloons then you have a weapon that gives off light and deals slightly more damage then a dark sword. As long as you have enough balloons to keep him wet, it's a win, win. Well, for the player at least, not for toadstool.

And I also just realized there's electric darts too. That's 150 damage per dart if you can keep him wet.

I think anything can get wet from the balloons but you will have to test it. Unfortunately we didn't get a toadstool in our world after they merged parts of the beta in the main game. We only got an empty hole where the cap should be. Toadstool would be a much better target for the balloons than Dfly though :D

Good Luck!

There should be 3 of those holes around the caves, one of them with the toadstool on it.

If one spawned there should be other 2 unless it bugged so try exploring around.

I know and we searched around the whole place but only found one. We also tried with console c_gonext("toadstiool_cap") but it kept going to that same hole we found. The one hole we do have hasn't been active since it appeared there, so I assume that it's a bug. Will try to run around the cave one more time though.. The place is huge and we could have easily missed something.

I could swear I'd heard that water balloons don't work on the toadstool

Not really sure, haven't tried to target anything else with the balloons other than Dfly, but I know you can target another player, even when pvp is switched off and the balloons do splash. I am not entirely sure if the toadstool can get wet, but I really think that anything can get wet in game, same way there are wet pigs called "Wet Weiner" for instance.

The wiki does say that balloons only work on players and Dragonfly, but i'ts been known to have been wrong in the past :D

Update: We did it you guys!

We went it armed to the teeth with flutes, balloons, darts, jerky, etc. and never even needed any of it because she didn't enrage. We'll see if that's true next time.

Basically, we used the walled pen to keep the larvae out, with the new gates so we didn't need to knock the walls down and repair them. Flingo in the center with flammable objects around the inside of the walls to freeze the larvae.

The big difference was that we used marble suits and dark swords. I had a thulecite crown that really came in handy too.

Congrats! And use those green gems wisely :)

I'm happy to have them, since I've already stripped the ruins (our cave map has no labyrinth, the second time this has happened to me) and used all the green gems I found there to multiply our thulecite. We've got a good amount left, but this will help a lot.

Thank you all for your advice, although I feel like a dope for not realizing earlier that we really needed to use dark swords. I main Wig so I've never really bothered with them before since they're so much more costly than a battle spear

Wig has a damage bonus so it is likely you won't have to deal much with D-fly's enraged state.

Hey man, extra damage is extra damage.

It can be a bit costly, but as you can see it's well worth it. Because of their perks, Wigfrid and Maxwell can use dark swords pretty frequently. And Wolfgang is an absolute beast when using one as well.

Now that we've figured out an easy way to farm splumonkeys for fuel, they aren't even that extravagant. It was, I guess also the sanity drain spooked me because I sucked at kiting shadows and HATE the insanity effects. There are certain habits I acquired in single player, such as never using the marble suit, which I need to rethink because that armor is a beast. Which reminds me: I wonder why there is no night armor in DST. I never really used it but sometimes I'd make it because it looked so cool.

It exists. Trust me, using Maxwell wouldn't be all that great without this. It's the only thing that keeps his con from being a major issue.
