What exactly does "Applied Horticulture" affect?

Just curious on which plants are affected and which are not by Wickerbottom's "Applied Horticulture" book.

I found a mushroom set-piece near my camp, a circle of 10 green mushrooms that would be great for Wickerbutt's sanity stabilization - would reading that book near the circle make the mushrooms grow?

If it's a plant that regrows, it should work on it.

I'm pretty sure Applied Horticulture doesn't work on mushrooms. It work on cactus though, which give the same amount of sanity when cooked.

It does not work on mushrooms, pine cones/saplings, etc., but only on things that can grow such as farm plants, grass, etc.

But it might work on spiderdens, actually...

Idk if it works on saplings, but I'm pretty darn sure that it works on trees

I meant the pine saplings, you know, young trees that cannot be chopped down yet. Sorry for the confusion.

I know. The saplings that you get when planting a pinecone, right?

From what I understand, Applied Horticulture doesn't work on freshly planted pinecones, but will change the growth stage of trees in stage 1, 2, 3, or dead. 
Also, Applied Horticulture works on Light Plants.
