RustyNayle Posted July 7, 2016 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Hi guys, My first mod character was Wanda (thanks to lots of coding help from @Maris, @Zackreaver, and @DarkXero, with art by @Vivalavie), Now I have decided to make a much simpler character: Wilma the Milkmaid Health: 150 Hunger: 175 Sanity: 175 Starting Items: Insulated Pack, 4 Goatsmilk Starting Knowledge: Icebox, Crockpot Unique Recipe: craft 1 Butter from 1 Goatsmilk and 1 live Butterfly Unique Ability: can milk Voltgoats while they sleep, with a chance they will become enraged / charged and attack (yet to be coded) I have most of the basic coding down pat, but this last ability is what I need help coding. We could look for inspiration from existing mods like, And, Here's a sketch from @Willette, She sent me some PNG files, I'm not sure if the autocompiler can work with them since they weren't in all the seperate subfolders. I might just have to convert the PNG to a TEX or something (unless the game does that by itself anyway?). So yeah, anyone happy to come on board and help me brain storm ideas for Wilma (I do want to keep her fairly simple though!), and to code / assemble her, let me know. It would be fun to put some traditional Swiss culture / sayings into her speech script. If someone could help me with a yodelling sound for her, that would be awesome! RustyNayle Posted July 8, 2016 Author Share Posted July 8, 2016 I had an idea from one of my friends: "It would be cool if you could tame the goat first by feeding it grass. Like you can do with beefalo. Then once it's been tamed, then you could milk it. and perhaps it would follow you for a little while, offer protection." I thought, well they're goats, they'll eat anything, so maybe they eat hats or papyrus or something? RustyNayle Posted July 11, 2016 Author Share Posted July 11, 2016 Another thought I had, perhaps Wilma feeds petals / evil petals / ferns for 1 goatsmilk, and papyrus or hats for more than 1 - sort of like with the Pig King? The game doesn't put a limit on how many times you can do that to him, since he's time/location-limited, and so are the goats - unless you're really clever / have good teamwork and figure out how to herd them into a far off enclosure (or are using the reproducible / mother goat mod). Sounds a little OP. Perhaps I could try and figure out how to code it so she stuns anything caught in the radius long enough to let her get away or something? Maybe it just needs separate stuff? Can't be any more variations of parts that I already did, so, perhaps all that needs to be done is to cut out pieces there already are and save them as separate files? Or maybe something else, Idk man, back in my days we just drew other existing sprites, so that's all the magic I know of! Oh, and, of course I can't let this thread slide without this masterpiece. I only know how to use art that's been provided in a particular way to attach it to the character. I might have to ask ZackReaver to help me again, I'm not sure Maris wants to.
