Don't Starve Together Unique Speech

Recommended Posts

I know as a fact that there is plenty of dialog unique to DST, and I have a feeling I'm late to make this post, but...

Anyone have the speech strings? I want to look at them without having to meet certain requirements (i.e, having Webber revive me as Wilson.)

So curious. I even took the liberty to spawn in a bunch of the graveyard junk and switched my characters to see the dialog. It's adorable.

@EthanTheMime You can look at them very easily in the files. In Steam, right-click on Don't Starve Together, > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files.... Navigate to data/scripts, and then look at the speech_blahblahblah.lua files. They're all text files, so you can open them in whatever.

I liked how when playing Maxwell some objects had new descriptions to add to what seemed to happen in the comic, such as examining trees he says an acquaintance describes them instead of just hearing them described as x. Also examining a Maxwell Statue has him say it seems silly now, so in essence, we have some Maxwell character development between the solo and coop don't starve that was present in the game, i feel it was a nice touch. Maxwell always has the best quotes :3

I need to play Maxwell more, unless of course this is referring to the hat from shipwrecked?

Ehh, I like him better in DST, it's more challenging and I can ask the intelligent Wickerbottom for some renewable slow pan flutes!

Fiiiiine.

All in all DST Xamwell(yes I made the skype group joke into a thing now ok) is still pretty good but different, and the one thing that bothers me is that his sanity is nerfed down to Tam O' level, which I kind of look down on, especially compared to 20 per minute

"I know that look, <name>. What are you up to?"

Upon inspecting a fellow dapper fellow when he has attacked (or been hit by his own boomerang) someone!

Is it tasty?

I've heard it tastes and smells bitter, I wouldn't want anything to do with it

You see, having to hang around the laymen such as 'Willow' and 'Woody' has depleted him of some of his innate excess Dapperness.

That, or its all the pleated shirts...

Ah I see.

Personally I always saw at least part of the sanity regain being the fact he's familiar with the place. It's more normal than IRL for him already, so why would he lose sanity from what's normal to him. Sure he loses it from some things like monsters, but I think it's more because "oh hey this thing is now against me, that's new" possibly

I saw his Dapperness come from him being so full of himself that he is just beaming positive energy. And why shouldn't he, he is after all the Great AND Powerful Maxwell.

It does also make sense if what you say will impact his sanity, as sanity always seemed to be an overall wellness meter, it even goes well with Charlie taking over and sending his world upside down, its different now with new things and he doesn't know what they are.

I think Sanity in usualy is opposite, really.

When its full your char is delusional and tries to make things look like they're from the real world. As it gets lower you see what actually happens(like the abominations that the "rabbits" are).

Meanwhile Maxwell, while is still bound to the game mechanic of the world changing as you go "insane" keeps shooting up in terms of sanity because he's familiar with it.

I actually really like the part about charlie's reign and its impact on his sanity regen.
