Wolfgang vs wigfrid in a casual server

Recommended Posts

I have ready many topics and the sum up was this in free style.

wigfrid "just kill everything and its easy" Been there done that. True

wolfgang has 2 many views. 1 "if you are super pro, you are the king of the fight and survival is not big prob" the second is 2" you want tons of effort to keep it stable, and its not worth the maintenance"

what do you believe?

"Tons of effort to keep it stable" Not really.

There's a huge abundancy of food. You usually just want to keep Golfwang not wimpy from my expriences, and mighty up when you need to fight. That means just carrying a bit more food to switch from strong to mighty/wimpy to strong and then to mighty later.

Say, 1 meatball to stay away from wimpy territory. Then another just kept on you for when you want to destroy something and mighty up.

This is assuming you're not using Meaty Stew strats/Bacon and Eggs, etc.

Ok i started a server after 3 months to check it out. As i was more reckless then when i play a lot, i have to say, wolfgang is always like this.

In paper he is awesome, in practice u get bored of his habits after a while. He changes forms in middle of fight (which forces you to get hit when you kyte) and in the beginning when the food is scarce you hate your life with him. Then again he is supposed to be a late hero.

I just hate to be wimpy all the time (while i know its the optimal), i prefer to be average. When you fight a giant its awesome to be him...but the rest of the game...wigfrid is a lot better (and she is close when in fight vs giant, since you equip your whole team with helmets)

Heck, even wilson and wx-78 may be better due to their revival/stability

I will give him some effort till i grow accustomed again to the game and then quit him. I always forget why i dont like him, till i give him an hour or two

How?

You just need to manage your hunger a bit, in the sense that you don't eat everything as you find it.

I main him in DST, and I really can't see the issue with managing his hunger.

I will tell you. Its a matter of aesthetics.

I know mathematically its better to keep him in wimpy form. Well, i dont like him that way. It ruins the style. (also he is kind of slow at 0,9)

So i want to keep him at medium form. He consumes way too much food. I know in second year you swim in food (in my previous server, we lost will to go on at day 150 because we would survive even by being lazy)

So keeping him at first 2-3 seasons at 150 hunger is hard and unrewarding. (He needs too much food, to be just wilson), all that just for a mighty form... Well wigfrid does it better. Honestly its annoying carrying special food (like meaty stew) all the time and weighting your options like "wolves came, how many are they, should i go mighty, or it will be waste" I am like, ignore this , i will be mighty anyway. But it kills resources.

Since i am a casual players as you say, its does not worth it, even wilson will fight better (for me). Just because i will be more stable and prepare better (for example, bigger stock of heal food) rather than just feeding and micromanaging.

Also his form changing is annoying for kyting.

Nah I never keep him in wimpy form.

In year 1 already you swim in food UNLESS its a server with a ton of people.

And I think medium form is already better than willson.

But yeah I agree about form changing. Stop stopping and announcing it. No one wants to hear you are mighty, golfwang.

WHAT? Nobody??? I'm NOBODY (sob)...?

Oopsie. I will just shut up now...

(Seriously, any animation which interrupts gameplay should be optional. But Mighty Wolfgang is... well, MIGHTY.)

Oh god, yes.   I had to chime in on this one.  One of the main reasons I rarely play Wolfgang is the fact that he stops to tell you whenever he's gone down a step...and not only has that gotten me killed in the past, it also startles me to death! It seems he always turns wimpy right when I'm desperately running away from hounds _and_ it's getting dark _and_ he's freezing, so I JUMP! a mile.  I was kind of concentrating there, game!

No.  If nothing else, I don't want a character who keeps breaking my flow.  I like Wolfgang, I really do, but I have a hard time keeping him alive and he tends to change often enough to really rattle my nerves after a while.  He was also the first time I actually died by starving--I wasn't at all ready for his faster hunger drain.  That + winter = game over.

Wigfrid all the way--she may not be as tough as him in MIGHTY! form, but at least she's just as strong when dying of starvation as she is on a full stomach, and doesn't physically _stop_ to tell you she's hungry.  (No, she just TRUMPETS IT TO THE HEAVENS and, by all rights, should alert everything in range.  "KEEP QUIET--THE CREATURE IS NEAR.")

Of course, this all comes down to a playstyle-preference thing...and I prefer my timed-actiony characters to keep their personal problems personal, so I can get on with playing how _I_ want.  : P

Wolfgang is fantastic and the wimpiness/stopping to announce your state rarely matter. But when stopping to announce matters, IT ALWAYS screws you over. Being chased by a huge group of bunnymen? *stops* *gets stunlocked to death*

Why can't it work like voice lines? Where if you move while he talks you just see the text.
