Dealing with Bearger

Recommended Posts

Got him in first day of Autumn (second year) and got him to spawn at a safe distance from base, cos last time we tried to take him out things ended up badly mostly for me as he was mad about me and me alone for some reason lol

So, this thime didn't bother him all Autumn, and in the last day of Winter we finally got Deerclops and took him to the sleeping beauty aka. The Bearger to make them fight. Took me a bit of patience to actually make them fight but poor Deerclops stood no real chance vs. Bearger cos of his naps and hits, but still he managed to slap him a few times and freeze him.

Now Deerclops is dead and Bearger isn't.. so.. what's the best way to deal with him? Prick ate the eye yet left the meat on the ground. :? Had like 10-12 blow darts from the 3 McTusk camps i farmed in the Winter and used them all on him by shooting and running and let him sleep and repeat, but still not enough..

Any tips on how to deal with him? :)

At this point looks like I got two big options: fight or poison!

1. Fighting him gives me two options: wait for season change or use range attacks.

- wait for for the season change to either autumn or summer, cos in winter and spring he hibernates and if attacked he will yawn and put the player to sleep then attack it.

- use range weapons like a blow dart (less uses) or boomerang (a lot more uses), but these are resources expensive.

I could also try to set him on fire with a fire staff, gunpowder, or any other sneaky means, but since I don't know how much HP he has left (got Deerclops to fight him, a frog rain on him and got us a bunch of frog legs instead and I used like 10-12 blow darts) I don't want to risk setting the loot on fire.

Oh, I could also try to spawn 1-2 mature tree guards and attack Bearger with a range weapon and make him smash some trees so the tree guards attack him instead but it's a laborious task.

2. Poisoning him it's by far the safest way, but it's a laborious task cos would have to get a lot poisoning food like red mushrooms from caves or farm a lot of spiders to get monster meat. That's 300 of either red caps or monster meat! On top of this would still have to wait for the season change when he would be active, meaning next autumn or summer.

Edit: Btw, any client side mod to show how much HP he has left?

Keep in mind that I don't play with Wigfrid but with Woodie.

Well, that video just shows how to kite it... you can even use that as Wendy (ma boo lol)

Now in terms of a sleeping... I did have a video where you could just roast the Bearger alive but shortly after, they changed the mechanic where sleeping creatures wake up when taking fire damage... cheeky...

As for now, the great thing about a sleeping Bearger is being able to hang around him, and collect the Bearger Fur Tufts that fall out on occasion... you could even make up a small camp with a fire pit, a crock pot to keep yourself fed...

But if you do want to kill it while it's hibernating, setting it on fire with a torch/fire staff then running off-screen to avoid the yawn would be a good tactic to bring his HP down to a more manageable size and with help of friends, just wail on it. ;) (Armor is advised though in case you can't kite because of lag)

Just a quick thought I had recently, if you manage to craft the awesome construction amulet you can make a thick fur with only 45 fur tufts instead of 90, I mean it's probably one of the best use for the amulet.

Other than that he's relatively easy to kite, just take cooked green mushrooms or cactus with you.

I usually get the bearger to smash some trees with treeguards around, then finish it through poisoning and tooth traps. Last night it wandered through the forest, killing four treeguards and balancing on the precipice of death... committed suicide by red caps.

I totally didn't help by offering the gazillion of monster meats from the surrounding tier 3 spider dens. Hohum.

Generally you will want mobs to at least weaken it plus indirect damage so that it will not target you. I would suggest monster food. I doubt giants have sanity, so making monster lasagna sounds like a waste. Four monster meats will remove 80 HP. There is also the swamp with all the helpful tentacles, merms, spiders, mosquitos and what have you. And you should use the bearger to farm wood as well as rocks. Ideally giants ought to fight between one another. A tooth trap if you reset it all ten times will remove 1000 HP. As the bearger is naturally distracted by food, you can use it to decrease aggro. And never fight it with food in the inventory! It will sniff it out as it were.

The mod I use to learn about the HP is Tell Me, but a client uncertain if it is enabled should try Advanced Tooltips. Buggy though.

Good way of killing hibernating Bearger is to just take him to the Dragonfly and let Bearger hit that guy with his aoe attack. You'll need quite a bit of armor though.

Another good idea is to make him chop a big forest, that way you'll get lots of wood and Treeguards that spawn should do some nice damage.

What I did while playing as really hurt Wendy was stunlocking the crap out of him with a Weather Pain, then leading him to a huge Beefalo herd in heat. Lots of food and Bearger got really hurt, so I could finish him off.

lure him in a swamp let him fight the tentacles and after the tentacles die they'll drop lots of monster meat and Bearger will eat it resulting in him dying because he ate a lot of monster meat,i find this a funny way to kill him and also a easy way because you don't do a lot of fighting.
