Monster Jungle Tree?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, thanks for reading this. I was wondering if we are going to get the Monster version of the Jungle tree. I mean, if we have a Totally Regular Jungle Tree, there must be a Monster version of this tree. Also, in Reign of Giants we have the birchnut and pine monsters, 2 monster tree, so it would make sense to have the Jungle Tree as well.

Hey there, @WX878! Welcome to the forums!

That is actually a reasonable idea... I always were a fan of the Treeguard although definitely not a fan of the poison birchnut trees.

It'd add more variety to bosses in SW! Although they already have some other bosses planned to be released, I wouldn't complain to having 1 more to deal with :D

Though I wonder what fighting mechanic they could possibly have, hmm...

I think that would be a really good idea.  I've only run into Palm Treeguards ONCE because I almost never cut down palm trees.  They're really only useful in the early game, when coconuts are an easy source of food, or when you need palm leafs.  As soon as I've built a base, I move on to chopping jungle trees because they give more wood and have the chance to drop some crockpot filler.

I had considered a "Tree Snake" which would just be a huge supple woody snake emerging from the ground, perhaps coiling and snapping out to bite the unlucky lumberjack.

If it had a fairly large reach then it'd be about as threatening as the Poison Birchnut tree, but I don't know if the engine handles "Long" enemies well.

Perhaps just a really huge wooden snake that emerges from the ground and shimmies after you.

What if the Jungle tree is the snake?

I mean they top of them kinda look like jaws so it shouldn't be to hard to make it transform into a snakelike creature with the leaves being the teeth and all.

And I'm all for more Treeguards specialy for the Jungletrees cause there really is no reason to chop Palmtrees after a while other then gathering the leaves because of the danger of the triple Palmtreeguard.

Well jungle trees have a problem, they take a REAL LONG WHILE to grow full and can only be placed on jungle turf while palm trees can be anywhere...

You can also plant them on the Grassturf and even then creating Lil Patches of Jungleturf should not be to difficult to do just grab yourself a trusty Pitchfork and go haywire on some small island you never going to visit anyway.

Tend to do that when the Jungleturf on my Islands is far to Small to make properly plantages for my Woodneeds and it has been working out.

Yeah, there should be a treeguard for them. Maybe this one could be the tanky treeguard, like the pine ones in RoG, seeing that the palm treeguard already fill the 'low health, high damage, hard to kill' aspect of the poison birchnut trees.

As you carelessly chop away at a jungle tree, wondering what you will have for dinner. An anaconda is wrapping himself around your leg. Surf n turf again? No, how about some honey ham? Hmm...

You come to the conclusion that trail mix is for dinner after you remembered you still have a few birchnuts left from the other world just as the last stroke of your axe knocks down the jungle tree. Along with the wood and seeds falls a nest and 2 small eggs...

You realize you've just pissed off a mother anaconda, but it is too late... her body is wrapped around yours and she is squeezing tighter and tighter.. you wiggle the joystick back and forth as fast as your can to free yourself and finally manage to...

Should you run or fight? Eh, it's only one snake, you think, I can take her. You take a huge wack at her and just as you do this the two eggs hatch. Out come a medium and a small snake. Now it's 3 vs 1.. what will you do..........?????

A. Kill them from smallest to largest

B. Kill them from largest to smallest

I hope you didn't pick B, because if you do that the large will turn into 4 medium. If you then kill the medium then each one will turn into 4 small. This will continue until you kill the small, medium, then the large snakes in that order or until you have turned them all into small snakes and killed them.
