Something Is Missing. Am I Alone?

Recommended Posts

What happened to the roadmap? And developers responding to bugs and problems? I remember reading the forums during Reign of Giants and there being a lot of dev to player communication. Is it because this is by Capy? Because at the moment, reading the FAQ doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in the longetivity of the DLC. I'm enjoying this a lot more than the early days of RoG, and that says a lot because I played a ton of RoG. Am I the only one getting these vibes?

Yeah, a little more communication would be nice. Devs have been responding to individual posts sometimes (I've seen FooBargle and another Capy dev, whose username escapes me at the moment, posting), so they are here. I'm sure it's just that the collaboration and all isn't quite meshing with any of the community communication workflows that they may have established before.

CptCalavera was saying that there is a patch planned before the holiday season, which should be within a week, but I haven't seen anything about it anywhere myself.

But in general, I do want to throw in my support for a couple more pinned posts, like what kind of update schedule they're going for, the most recent patch notes (it doesn't have to be exhaustive, but "fixed this bug and this bug, among others, added this" would be nice, and definitely help to create the appearance of progress and community).

They have these weekly streams and they answer a lot of questions. There's a permalink on the Steam forums:

Btw last stream there was a question about the Volcano season, someone asked about a nerf and the answer didn't give me confidence it's gonna happen anytime soon but we'll see. We really have to change their mind on this, I don't think I could play the game with the Volcano season being what it is currently.

@Weird Wanderer, That's exactly the sort of thing that could be spruced up a bit and made into a pinned post. Even though doing that doesn't add any more substance to the forums as a whole (over posting it a couple of pages into that thread), it does give the appearance of communication, which is probably more important than the communication itself.

I was curious about that myself.  I wanted to see when the next update for shipwrecked would be, honestly I stopped playing for the time being because volcano season is just... game breaking.

WHERE ARE THE UPDATES?

YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

Hey folks, there's not a whole to say that JoeW didn't cover in the post linked above but rest assured that even if we're not posting a whole lot we are watching the forums and we really appreciate all the bug reports and feedback. We've been busy fixing bugs and tweaking balance based on your feedback and an update is coming shortly!

Good to know.  I think the community would appreciate knowing what bugs were fixed/worked on and what is being balanced, even if they are miniscule.

Regardless of an ETA for an update, just a summary of some issues being tackled would go a long way.

the largest a company become....

it's true, during the rog dlc, dev. reply a lot, but the community is very large now, some post, sadly talk about the same things, and 30+ topic about vulcano ...is way too much. but I don't blame our dev. at all, they are working for sure, the don't have time for answer, but I'm sure they read 90% of topics.

Think about the largest game company, dev. don't even talk to community, they have a department just for that, and it sucks.

:love_heart:  In Wilson We Trust.

p.s. sorry for my english, I'm italian.

I expect that there will be patch notes for the updates that will include a list of what has been fixed/balanced. Ideally that's something that we would be able to make available in real time so the community can see what's on our radar and what fixes are in the pipeline as we work on updates. It's something that we would like to do but I can't make any promises, it's the kind of thing that can be overly time consuming and hard to maintain, eating up hours that are better spent improving the game. The balance between working on the game and keeping the community informed is still a work in progress for us but we realize that both are important and are looking at ways to keep the community more in the loop.

Thank you for responding and for the information. I/We like to stay in the loop on things and make sure things have been read. usually by now a Dev would have commented on many of the threads especially those surrounding important key issues, such as all of the volcano criticism. usually by this point there would be a countdown for the update and with what it is expected to include. Thanks for responding.
