Gold in Shipwrecked?

Recommended Posts

Soo...I played about an hour with this but didn't find any gold source. Maybe I just didn't come across the proper biome since the world in Shipwrecked is bloody enormous but still, the gold yielding rocks seems to be either non-existent or extremelly rare.

I did find "Dubloons" but these don't seem to be the correct source of gold for the Science Machine.

Weird, gold veins were plenty in both worlds I made.

However, single gold nuggets laying on the ground I´m yet to find

If you want to know how to get gold without rocks:

You can refine dubloons into gold nuggets.  Granted, you need at least one nugget to make a science machine to unlock it, but after that you'll have an alternate source. I had a run of luck with the pirate hat parrot flitting around, insulting me, and dropping dubloons every so often.

I'm in my third game and maybe it's just me but gold-vein boulders do seem to be much rarer than in DS vanilla. In about 10 hours of playing I've found exactly 3, across all my games.

It's probably intended because luckily you need only the one initial nugget for the science machine and the rest can be obtained from the dubloons crapped out by the pirate parrot (even though it's a rather slow process).

I've also found a treasure with some baubles, seemingly for sale to the Pig King. I haven't found a Pig King yet though.

I think it really depends how kind the Worldgen is. My best advice is to search for the Volcanobiome since goldrocks seem to be quite plentyfull in there. After you got a shovel you won't be needing those anyway since you can either go treasurehunting to get some gold or dig up the rockpiles with gold inside of them in the Volcano biome. Otherwise dense Jungle seems quite good for Gold although it tends to spawn them very close to the gosh darn Apes and they love stealing that stuff.

I believe the pig king has been replaced with the yaarctopus. You can trade fish and trinkets for treasure chests, containing at least one gold dubloon or more, depending on the trinket. However, you can only trade once a day, and you need 3 dubloon to get one gold, so not as easy to get gold compared to pig king. Maybe they will add him as well in a more jungle like getup. It should be noted I haven't actually found him myself yet, despite being on day 30+, all I know is what I hear other say and pictures and the wiki page http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Yaarctopus
