Suggestion for the Old Bell

New way of getting Old Bell

  1. 1. Do you think that Old Bell would be much more balanced if it required an ancient pseudo station to be crafted and was in ancient tab instead of magic tab?

I'd agree that Old Bell would be very distructive and would be as easily to get your hands on if each player is able to craft it (because the blueprint system would cause issues in certain if not most cases).

The destruction possible to be done by the old bell's summoning of Bigfoot could be chaotic. I'm not here to adress the Bigfoot himself, the big guy is fine as he is... But what if the old bell was in ancient tab instead of magic tab? I mean, it is an OLD bell after all. That way you'd need to get Glommer on full moon, kill Glommer, go through caves and find ruins, go through ruins and find an ancient pseudo station (broken or not, who cares?), craft the old bell, get out of the ruins, get out of the caves and only then you could do something highly destructive.

How does this solution sound to you? Yey? Ney?

Yey. I still don't like the Glommer part, because it would both cause a huge pile of wings surplus and still not make much sense, but at least it's something.

but I think that the Big Foot should deal more damage, as it would make it more useable for Dragonfly fight.

Scaling to the RoG trailer, Bigfoot should actually be bigger than he actually is! Like x2 bigger!

May be Bigfoot could deal 10k damage too if it becomes an ancient tab item?

@Asparagus hmm may be it could require 1 Thulecite to make the bell along with the flower and the wings?

@DarkXero it being difficult to get your hands on and having low durability I would say balances quite well with the amount of damage it could deal (1 old bell would = 30k damage max!)

Deal 10000 damage

Step 1: Put Old Bells around the portal

Step 2: Wait for someone to join

Step 3: Put down a moleworm

1) If yoy're a host doing that, well then you're a Bad Host. And we have that kind of servers all over the place where the host goes godmode and mallesters the client players.

2) If you're a client would you go through the effort of a dozen days just to do that? Doubt it. Setting bases on fire, hammering stuff and basically getting in other player's way with easy methods is ought to be way more common than this.

3) Timing this correctly has a what proportion of a chance? Btw we already have meteors going in people's faces sometimes in servers when they spawn from the portal.

4) This would be a small issue only in Survival servers, if one at all considering the amount of effort you need to go through as a client as in Endless you can just respawn over and over again via portal and in Wilderness there's no portal at all and you respawn very simply.

So unless you're a troll who have too much free time (no life) in their hands I don't see how big foot would be a problem with 10k. Also, 10k and 1k damage for most players at the very start has practically the same effect. Just that Wigfrid won't be able to survive a Bigfoot stomp with her helmet on, where as all the other players would die either way with one stomp.

So, I just have one question for you; Reason much?

10k damage

take that, Thulecite Armour set. Oh, wait, that's still not enough...

Like x2 bigger!

well, that would make people fear it more, as it probably would entirely crush a small base if misplaced. But if I have to hear the "tree farm" argument one more time...

Edit: Now that I thought about it, is there really any other counter arguement to locking the bell in the ruins besides the treefarm people(I can't believe I'm aknowledging their existence...)?

Just that Wigfrid won't be able to survive a Bigfoot stomp with her helmet on,

Just sharing something hilarious and relevant to your statement :loyal:. Singeplayer Wigfrid there, for anyone uncertain.

That aside, no idea why Bigfoot needs to gain additional damage up to 10K. Potential griefing is prevalent already, and damage caused by him/her is enough as-is. I do think it's an interesting twist to lock the Old Bell in the Ruins though. A dedicated griefer can and will get it, but most would abandon the lengthy pursuit and use other means.

Unless, of course, they found the base of people who already went into the Ruins and got the Old Bell. Or they were lucky and obtained the blueprint from Tumbleweeds. Then it's game over.

Out of curiosity: can you obtain Old Bell's blueprint in tumbleweeds right now in DST?
