JustRoger
The blackening out of your health is OT (Over the Top). I like this game but... this kills it for me. There should be an option to turn this feature on and off. <-- do this with "options for servers OR for single play". I have actually stopped recommending the game along with playing it. The frustration level of finding the proper items to fix this is (IMO) annoying. I consider this unfortunate since the game has great potential. This is for the DEVs. Anyone can reply but I won't rebuttal or respond. "for me" this kills the game.
Johnny5isAlive
@JustRoger, The point of Don't Starve (singleplayer) was that is was perma-death. Since in an online setting they can't do perma-death they implemented this. If you die, you lose a chunk of your health IF you revive through basic means, more advanced methods of reviving have no health penalty. This is a perfectly balanced feature that keeps death as something to avoid instead of just throwing yourself at it like "hey guys im low on health lemme just die and revive" (Even though many people still do this... And never get revived.) And then, the health penalty is minor and really changes nothing. (IMHO I think death needs to be more punishing. Perhaps taking a chunk of the persons max hunger? Could in a way be seen as their "Soul") And then you have Booster Shots which are INCREDIBLY cheap to craft (3 papyrus, 2 healing salves, 1 stinger) and therefore it is incredibly easy to recover the lost health. Anyone can reply but I won't rebuttal or respond.Fair enough. But this feature is too lenient as it is and desperately needs to be made harder. Finally if you are dead set on removing this balanced mechanic to make the game even easier than it already is there are many mods that can do just that. Rosten
It's been a while since I've played Don't Starve, but if I recall correctly, there are two ways of having lowered max health. Building a Meat Effigy, which gives you -20 health, and has been here far before DST was even conceived, this has been a mainstay of the Effigy maybe even since it's inception. It punishes you slightly by having a small health penalty in exchange for a worry-free revival method. The only way to get rid of this health reduction, is to use up the effigy, at which point the health will be refunded. Being revived by a Tell-Tale Heart, this, frankly, is an item that only exists so the game isn't frustrating in Multiplayer. In Single Player, if you die without some method of revival, that's game over, world is deleted, gone. In Multiplayer, you simply turn into a ghost, and have to take a -20 health penalty when you're revived the "Easy" way. Of course, this penalty can be removed with a Booster Shot, who's ingredients are well worth losing the health penalty, and far easier to attain than the materials for a revival amulet, or meat effigy. The reason it's annoying is because there needs to be a legitimate reason to want to avoid death in Multiplayer, whereas in Single Player, your world would be deleted on death, in Multiplayer, you take a small health penalty that can be removed with an item. In my opinion, this is an extremely lenient feature compared to the Single Player game. Of course, if you're the type who wants the game to be even easier in Multiplayer, which is already ridiculously easy compared to Single Player as it is, there are almost certainly mods which remove this. oCrapaCreeper
It's either the health penalty or world deletion/ban upon death. Pick one. This was originally a perma death game.

DarkXero
Yet another proof that ghosts suck for everyone.People who know how to play don't mind the reduction, and hate ghosts because they simplify the game.People who don't know how to play can't keep up with the penalty and just keep dying and quit out of frustration. Wilderness is the best bet.
Johnny5isAlive
@GiddyGuy, That would be far too powerful, for me at least. I would die several times on purpose to lower my max sanity so that it would be easier to manipulate. You could jump between being sane and insane so easily. However there's no benefit that comes from having lower max hunger so it would increase the urgency of getting a Booster Shot.(I do agree that Sanity better represents the Soul though)

Maybe but it would make a strategy of killing yourself so you have lower sanity to easily get insane to get nightmare fuel like standing in the dark cause I don't see it as being op in the least sure easier to get nightmare fuel but nooby players would die more easily because of this so then they would learn to try not to die and have to be revived thru a telltale heart. However there's no benefit that comes from having lower max hunger so it would increase the urgency of getting a Booster Shot. This seems a bit weird why would you lose maximum hunger from dying unless you lost part of your stomach when you died (lawl) then again "game logic" so what ever. (I do agree that Sanity better represents the Soul though) Thank you for agreeing with me. ^_^ ♥

I mean if nothing was hard, it would just be an animated spread sheet. You could click all over on your screen for free if you want that.
