Gorakk
Grow up OP, you're being pathetic. Never thought I'd see this pc, 'how dare you offend me?' nonsense in the world of Don't Starve. People like you are ruining the Internet. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/51515-use-of-slurs/page/2/#findComment-617443 Share on other sites
inihility
Name calling isn't exactly right but you don't sound like you've been on the internet long to be so offended by such a term. CammoAmmo
I am not a child and do not want my words censored if I choose to use them. However, a language filter is perfectly reasonable to have as long as there is an option to disable it. People who do not want to see profanity will have it censored, and it will be enabled on default with a setting for other people to disable it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/51515-use-of-slurs/page/2/#findComment-617479 Share on other sites

People like you are ruining the Internet.this is meant to be a child friendly game, i can see if it's on halo or WoW but, a child friendly game shouldn't allow slurs, you sir are giving me the impression that you care more about swearing on the internet then childhoods. yes i know that they will find out about swears eventually, but we should wait till they get more self control. not everyone grows up the same, their is mental stability problems their is autism, and so much more. lots of people die over swears on the internet, minimizing deaths could prove useful you know.... jbeetle
Klei already said that they wouldn't be policing the servers, and adding a filter would be pointless because people would type around it. It would be a waste of their time. I'm not saying 'NO KLEI DONT ADD A SWEAR FILTER' - I don't care either way. It's just that adding a swear filter would accomplish nothing. This is another case of "find a server that fits you." alainmcd
Not that I'd be particularly interested, but here's my suggestion: optional chat filter, where the server creates a list with words to censor (empty list by default) and chooses penalties for repeating offenders, like muting or banning. Kzisor
And before anyone says the word used in this case is not a slur, I want to make it clear, as a woman who has experienced street harassment and has had to fend off assault. That word is used to make women feel worthless and afraid. That word is a threat. It is never okay to use that word, because that word implies violence. It is not just a curse word. It is a word used to show how little a man thinks of you and how much he wants to hurt you. And if a man uses that word to describe you you may very well never make it back home. It is my personal opinion that you've lost all credibility with the bold statements. You assume just because a word is used that the person on the other end is a male. In my eyes you are no better than they, you just chose to assert your frustration in a different method. I am not against adding a chat filter, however, it should be up to the parent and/or person to set it up to censor what they want censored; not Klei. bellagoth
Okay are you serious right now? I'm a woman and I'm outright embarrassed and offended by the statements the OP has made. OP, you do NOT speak for me and definitely do NOT speak for all women. I call people b***** all the time, cause they're acting like jerks, male or female, I don't care. And guess what, I've gotten called that too by girls and guys. Also in the real world, it's worth noting that it's mainly girls calling each other b*****.Listen, I'm a woman of color, I KNOW what a real slur is. Don't EVER call "b*****"" slur, it's an insult to every person out there who's been called an real slur. Pretending that "b*****" is a slur is something that white women made up to try and one up and derail women of color and it's not okay. First off, assuming that the person who said that to you is male is sexist as all hell.Second, even more than that, if it's only bad if a guy calls a girl a b*****? Oh, but if girls do it to other girls, or girl calls a guy that it's all good? Do even realize what a gigantic double standard that is? I'm a really upset by this post because IRL I am an activist and genuinely give a damn about racial, sexual and gender equality. But you are the person who gives us a bad name, YOU are the person who's turned social justice into joke Thanks for being the jerk who cried wolf, now when something actually problematic shows up no one will take it seriously, great job.
